Seeing as the last post on European Cinema was months ago....

This movie has easily made it into my favorite movies list. The movie was internationally acclaimed and I can see why. The 2 hour plus runtime was not wasted, every minute was utilized. The movie can stand alone even for one who hasn't read the book.

The production aspects of the film are commendable. On top of it is the soundtrack. The music used in the film are very haunting and befitting in the mystery being solved. Noomi Rapace was perfect for her role. I can only say good things about her presence in the film. She deserves the acting awards she got.

The story is very engaging, with no dull moment at all. I have kept my eyes open during the entire watching, never was I bored nor distracted.

Highly higly recommendable especially for fans of the thriller genre.

I thought this was great too. Lisbeth Salander is one of the best, most fascinating female characters in the history of film imo. What did you make of the violence in the film? It walked a fine line, I think. The remake was pretty good too. Rooney Mara kicked ass.

The violence was tolerable for me. I actually liked how they portrayed the violence in the film. I would understand if a lot of people find them extreme, but for me it was just fine-tuned and well, I can't find any adjective to describe it but I thought it was well done. Yeah, Lisbeth is one interesting character.

I am looking forward to Fincher's remake of it. But from what I've read, the consensus is that the Swedish version is the much better one.

I saw it soon after it came out and thought it was alright. I rewatched it a few months ago and it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. The direction and pacing is flawless and the story and characters are thoroughly engaging. I love how the happy ending neither feels cliche nor ruins the dark atmosphere of the film. I saw the sequel a long time ago and thought it was frankly super boring, but now I definitely have to give it and the third film a second chance.
