Sounds like another one of those shows that will get one season then vanish.

I don't get the Spike channel, but this is on tonight, Thu.,7-6-17 @ 10:00 PM/EST. If anyone watches it, I'd be interested in an opinion...

I don't actually have a problem with that. I think there are a lot of concepts that are too big for a 2 hour movie but perfect for 6-10 hour long episodes. The problem is that too many of those ideas are then forced into a second season that isn't needed. Prison Break was a perfect example of this. A concept good for a single season (probably not as many episodes as they did) but then stretched out into multiple other seasons that had pushed the concept into ridiculousness.

What an excellent day for an exorcism

This show is not that good. The characters are boring and the actors are limited. Frances Conroy is the only good thing in this show.

THE MIST HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Spike has cancelled its Stephen King-inspired drama series “The Mist” after one season. The series was an original spin on both King’s novella and the more loyal 2007 Frank Darabont film adaptation.

The first season closed out with an anaemic 0.14 rating in Live+Same Day ratings, and the cancellation comes as Spike will rebrand itself as The Paramount Network in January.
