I'm enjoying the series. It helps if you don't think too much about it though. Season 2 is definitely better than season 1.

I did vote that it needs to improve, but that can be said of any show. I just watched the season 2 finale, and loved it. This show was much better this season, and I hope it gets even better.

“Legends of Tomorrow” S3 Story Details

legends-of-tomorrow-s3-story-details.jpg

The CW has released the official synopsis for the third season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” which explains how Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) comes back into the show’s action and where the show will go following in the wake of the second season finale.

The show ended this season with the legends discovering that in meddling in their own timeline, they’ve effectively broken history and now must restore the damage. Here are the plot details:

“In revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they have essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms – a scattering of people, animals, and objects all across time. Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart.

But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question. With the Time Bureau effectively the new sheriffs in town, the Legends disband – until Mick Rory discovers one of them in the middle of his well-deserved vacation in Aruba.

Seeing this as an opportunity to continue their time travelling heroics, Sara wastes no time in getting the Legends back together. Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.

The release contains no mention of Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). New characters are expected to be along for the ride though so it’s possible Amaya won’t be back.

The series returns to screens this Fall.

“Legends” Producers Want John Constantine

legends-producers-want-john-constantine-696x464.jpg

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” executive producer Phil Klemmer says that the series is “actively campaigning” to get Matt Ryan’s John Constantine involved in the show’s third season.

Ryan played the character on NBC’s short-lived “Constantine,” and reprised the role for a guest spot in the fourth season of “Arrow”. The talk was that he might eventually become a regular on ‘Legends’ for the second season, but that didn’t pan out.

The new season reportedly deals with a much more supernatural and vibe, the focus being on “the occult and monsters”. This ties into the new ‘Legend’ onboard this year, Tala Ashe as Zari – a character based on the comics character Isis and a hacktivist from the year 2042 who pushes the ‘Legends’ to not just fix, but actively improve history.

The spookier vibe is why Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough) is returning as a villain. This Darkh won’t be the younger more fun version from last year, he’ll be the much darker, post-“Arrow” resurrected from the dead version. Darhk will serve as the leader of the group of villains, with Gorilla Grodd also appearing and being “the most evolved and powerful form of Grodd” to date.

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” returns on October 10th.

The CW has released a new trailer for the third season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” with glimpses of some of the new encounters the Legends will encounter.

With the Legion of Doom disbanded, but time fractured due to a paradox created, the Legends have created anachronisms that threaten to tear the time stream apart.

In order to restore history, they will challenge the Time Bureau – the new authority handling integrity of the timeline. The series returns on Tuesday, October 10th.

Garber Exiting “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”

garber-exiting-dcs-legends-of-tomorrow-696x464.jpg

The CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” usually undergoes a few casting changes each season, and that will be the case this year as actor Victor Garber has confirmed he’s departing the series sometime during the current third season which launched this week.

Garber has played Professor Martin Stein since the show’s beginning and appeared prior to that on “The Flash”. In both instances he was half of the superhero ‘Firestorm’ – merging first with Robbie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and on ‘Legends’ with Jefferson Jackson (Franz Drameh).

Garber is returning to Broadway to team with Bernadette Peters for the Tony-winning revival of “Hello, Dolly!,” the pair taking over from David Hyde Pierce and Bette Midler. Their first show is on January 20th.

Garber’s exit from the show has reportedly been planned well in advance and will be incorporated into the plot of season three. Unlike other cast members, like Wentworth Miller’s Leonard Snart who recurred last season, there’s currently no plans for Garber to be in the fourth season.

Garber remains listed as a series regular, but there’s no word how long he’ll actually be on the show this season.

Not sure how I feel about
Garber
leaving. I've enjoyed him in the role, and I've been a fan of his for a long time. Makes me wonder what other characters they could bring in to the mix, or if they could have another person
join Jax to become Firestorm. Seems to me they did it in a way in the comics where Jackson could become Firestorm without Stein's assistance.

So, they sent Helen of Troy to Themyscira? That was an awesome Easter egg! Love it! This show has been hitting it out of the park this season. Kind of curious where they're planning on going with Rip being so off the reservation this season. And as much as I thought I was sick of seeing Damien Darkh as the big bad on these shows, I'm liking seeing him back. And working with his daughter (nice of Routh to get his wife a job on his show).

Kid Flash Confirmed For CW’s “Legends”

kid-flash-confirmed-for-cws-legends-696x464.jpg

Australian actor Keiynan Lonsdale is bringing his Kid Flash character to “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” as a regular, filling a hole left by the departure of cast members Victor Garber and Franz Drameh as the two halves of Firestorm.

The series has aired half of its eighteen episode third season. The season premiere, episode ten, sees the return of Matt Ryan’s John Constantine following a brief tease in the mid-season finale. Wally West/Kid Flash will show up in the eleventh episode and become a series regular onboard The Waverider by the thirteenth.

Lonsdale briefly played the character in the third season premiere, shown fighting crime in Central City with Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood. “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” is set to return to The CW on February 12th

Excellent. I wasn't a fan at first but his character has grown on me. I've found myself missing him in recent episodes of The Flash.

Constantine To Be A “Legends” Regular

constantine-to-be-a-legends-regular-696x464.jpg

Matt Ryan’s screen take on DC Comics paranormal investigator John Constantine is set to return as a series regular on The CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” if the series is renewed for a fourth season.

Ryan played the chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist character on NBC’s live-action series “Constantine” but the show was cancelled after one season. Ryan has remained committed to the role, appearing on various CW series in the part along with voicing the role for a CW Seed animated series debuting March 24th.

Ryan has popped up twice on “Legends of Tomorrow” this season and, should a renewal be announced, the character will have a permanent new home. His hiring follows the departures of Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, and Franz Drameh as series regulars this season.

“Legends of Tomorrow” Goes Crazier In S4

legends-of-tomorrow-goes-crazier-in-s4-696x464.jpg

The CW closed out the third season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” on Monday with a gloriously ridiculous fight scene which saw the demise of the season’s demonic big bad Mallus. The episode also saw the departure of several regulars.

As per usual though, in trying to stop the current season’s threat the Legends seem to have inadvertently laid a path for the next season’s threat to emerge. Bringing Mallus into this world opened a door which allows for not just the integration of John Constantine (Matt Ryan) onto the team, but an even crazier season next year. Executive producer Phil Klemmer tells TV Line:

“[Mallus] is a sort of bellwether of bad guys to come in Season 4. Up until this point, we’ve been dealing with earthly and historical bad guys, and we certainly had fun with all of that, but this year we dabbled in the world of the occult, through Damien Darhk and his enterprises.

But you know that Constantine is coming onto the show next season, so we want to go deeper, we want Mallus to be used as ‘the tip of the iceberg.’ He is not human, and we want to start playing with the idea that Earth hasn’t always belonged just to our kind.

We want to get into the world of fantastic myths and monsters a bit more. It’s kind of presumptuous for anybody to think they have ownership of this Earth or any part of it. Not to get deep into immigration metaphors, but Mallus is an ancient evil, he doesn’t understand humans and doesn’t understand why we have any claim to controlling this world of ours.”

EW has also confirmed that despite her saying goodbye, actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers (who plays Amaya) is returning next season and she will still be a series regular. You can revisit both the big fight scene and the finale’s coda setting up next season below:
