What was the Tiffany Case of the book like then, ant? And I had read that Blofeld was not in the book and was brought into the film by the producers who originally wanted Goldfinger's twin brother!

Let me see...

My personal impression is that she's a willowy blonde, with a touch of arrogance, cynicism, irony and a husky voice. She puts up a tough front, but is more like a bird with an injured wing. She's been terribly hurt - her father Case was so embittered she was not a boy that he gave her mother a thousand dollars and a powder case from Tiffany's and walked out - and is perhaps a little bitter. She is confrontational towards most men. It's a case - pardon the pun - of if you want to tangle with her, on a personal level, you'd better bring your best game or else you can go to hell.

When Bond first met her, she was listening to two piano pieces based upon French songs called LA RONDE, followed by J'ATTENDRAI. This music is a little bit old-fashioned and sad - by 1950s standards. She is one of the few women that Bond developed genuine feelings for. He was prepared to take the plunge and look after her permanently. However, by the next novel, Tiffany found Bond too difficult to live with and had returned to the United States with an American military officer, apparently intending to marry him.

The villains of the piece are an organized crime gang called The Spangled Mob. It is run by the brothers Jack and Seraffimo Spang. One is based in London whilst the other lives and works in Las Vegas. They are engaged in smuggling a large cache of diamonds worth many millions of dollars from Africa to America to fund their organisation.

For more information, read the book... :emoji_wink:

My Father had the complete set but after sampling one or two like Casino Royale and Live and Let Die back in the seventies I found that I preferred the films!

I find the novels vastly superior and far more realistic than the films - especially the earlier stories. I like the fact that Bond relies on tradecraft and training rather than gadgets and gimmicks to carry out his duty on his missions. Of course, once the films came along, they did begin to affect the atmosphere and the "flavour" of the novels, but they were still much, much better in my opinion.

However, I do wish that the series had ended with the death of Ian Fleming. What most people don't seem to understand is that every great work of fiction - be it book, comic, film, TV, radio or anything else - has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Oh well...

After Moonraker I've always found the series a bit of a chore too! I can't say any of the subsequent movies have really been that enjoyable but I keep on with them like it's a tradition to be honest and no Bond in my opinion can beat Sean Connery!

For me, Timothy Dalton always had the closest interpretation to the original. When I re-read the novels, it's his face that I see in my mind's eye.

I enjoy the films, but they are of a James Bond from a parallel universe - not this one. As adventure films, they are a lot of fun. As James Bond stories, they are poor substitutes.

The Daniel Craig Bonds are for me just like all films made these days, too many explosions, too many fights and not enough stories and not enough sexy women! :emoji_scream:

The Natalie Wood mystery has been raging on for nearly forty years and I doubt we'll ever get to the bottom of it! Something very fishy about the whole thing but with tremendous amounts of big money around to confuse the issue it's going to stay that way! I spoke to Lana wood on FB once and she seemed very pleasant although she never accepted my friend request! :emoji_angry:

I think Jill must be the sexiest Bond girl ever and from what I've seen both George and Sean had a good time romping around in the sun with her! :emoji_kissing:
