Surprise Trailer For Danny McBride In “Dundee”





Coming completely out of nowhere, a new forty-second trailer has hit for “Dundee,” what appears to be a sequel/spin-off to “Crocodile Dundee” starring Danny McBride as Mick Dundee’s long lost American son Brian Dundee.

Rimfire Films, who produced the first two “Crocodile Dundee” movies, is seemingly behind the clip which points to the website DundeeMovie.com and has a Summer 2018 release date. No-one is sure what this is exactly – a tourism Australia promo maybe? A web series? The synopsis on the site says:

“Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he’s missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no one knew he had. Introducing Danny McBride as Brian Dundee. This son of a legend is forced to channel his Aussie roots as he embarks on the ultimate adventure in the land down under. It’s time to live up to the family name. Unlike his father, Brian grew up a true city kid. But that won’t stop him from picking up his dad’s oversized knife and launching into the Australian outback, completely unprepared for what lies ahead.”

People broke the story of the project and confirmed Paul Hogan will reprise the role of Mick Dundee in the film as well. Hogan tells the mag:

“Crocodile Dundee is a film that has stood the test of time. It was a defining moment in my life and one of my proudest accomplishments. Throughout the past few years, I’ve been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation. I’m excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon.”

Without warning, we have a new installment of the Crocodile Dundee series, but it's not what you think. Danny McBride is apparently the son of Crocodile Dundee as shown in the new trailer for a movie called Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home. The project is produced by Rimfire Films, the company behind the first two Dundee movies, but what exactly is it that we just saw in the 40-second clip? Is it really a feature-length movie coming out this summer like the trailer promises? Is it a Super Bowl LII commercial? At this point, McBride is selling it as an actual movie.

In an interview with People Magazine, Danny McBride expressed his love for the original Crocodile Dundee movies and claims that he's ready to take it to a new generation. The actor/director recently sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone and there was no mention of this mysterious project, not even a hint. However, McBride told People that he's excited to get the project out into the world. And apparently he will be starring alongside the original Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan, who is playing his dad. Paul Hogan, with the help of some friends, is bringing the beloved character back in a fun and surprising way with this mysterious project. He had this to say about it.

The short trailer features Danny McBride as the son of Crocodile Dundee in what we can only imagine is the Australian Outback. McBride falls into "character," but there's no accent. Instead he sounds like Kenny Powers reciting some famous lines from the Crocodile Dundee movies, including talking about his knife. It's painfully awkward and all pretty damn funny. There appears to be no rating and the end of the trailer says that Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home arrives this summer. The official synopsis for Dundee has been released as well and it looks to be a legit movie.

"Crocodile Dundee is back," says the synopsis on the official site. Apparently, Crocodile Dundee is missing in the Australian Outback and his son, Brian Dundee has to go find him. The synopsis reads.

Brian Dundee grew up in the city and it's already evident from the trailer that he doesn't have the same skillset as his father. McBride claims that 95 percent of the role is the vest, so we'll see how well that goes for him.

"I'm not going to lie to you, to be a real Crocodile Dundee, I think 95% of it is the vest and then 5% is just being able to not fall down and stay on your feet."
The original 1986 Crocodile Dundee was a comedy written by and starring Paul Hogan as the Australian bushman Mick Dundee who comes to New York City. The movie became a huge success and grossed $328 million at the worldwide box office and turned out two sequels, 1988's Crocodile Dundee II and 2001's Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, which were criticized for not living up to the original movie. Chris Hemsworth Joins McBride In “Dundee”





Speculation is still rampant regarding “Dundee,” the apparent film hitting this summer that came out of nowhere with a teaser trailer last week.

That trailer showed comedian Danny McBride as Brian Dundee, the long-lost American son of Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan), and was produced by Rimfire Films – the company behind the first two movies in the franchise.

Now it has been revealed that whatever this project is, “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth is also onboard playing Wally Jr., the son of John Meillon’s Walter ‘Wally’ Reilly and Mick’s oldest friend in the original films.

In the project Wally Jr. is described as the heir to his father’s outback tour company: “This expert outdoorsman prides himself on knowing all the is to know about the land down under. But even he will have his hands full keeping his new American friend out of trouble.”

I really hope this is just a joke and not a real thing. Crocodile Dundee was a single movie premise which hasn't dated well at all, and while I always enjoy seeing Chris Hemsworth showing his comedy skills, I can't imagine this working out any better than the Ghostbusters remake.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not quite sure how to feel about this.

However, I expect I'll have forgotten all about it within 24 hours.

“Dundee” Revealed As A Tourism Ad Stunt





Full props have to be given to Tourism Australia as “Dundee,” its viral marketing stunt dressed up like an apparent $30 million feature film complete with fake IMDb listing, has had people talking the past week. The Brisbane Times reports the brief teasers so far are part of an advertising campaign for Tourism Australia, set to air during next month’s NFL Super Bowl.

Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth star in the teasers as the sons of Mick and Walt respectively from the original ‘Dundee’ films on a mission to rescue Mick who is lost in the Australian outback. That it wasn’t a film was fairly clear as there was no paper trail or scheduling windows for a feature to be shot let alone to have flown so far under the radar.

The timing, a week before Australia Day and two weeks before the Superbowl, chalked up the most obvious guess as being part of a Superbowl ad campaign. When Tourism Australia ambassador Hemsworth appeared, and when award-winning commercial director Steve Rogers was listed as the helmer, the ruse became more obvious.

The original Crocodile Dundee, actor Paul Hogan, starred in the famed 1984 “G’Day Mate” tourism campaign which became iconic at the time and led to the ‘only used by Americans describing Australia’ expression: ‘shrimp on the barbie’. Tourism Australia has not confirmed the campaign and issued a “no comment” statement to the outlet.

Thank God for that. As a tourism commercial it's a bit weak (doesn't really show much to entice people to come here other than to remind them that we exist) but as a movie it would have been horrendous.

Instead of Mick Dundee, they should use Mick Taylor to entice the tourists to visit...

You know what, forget my earlier comments about this being a terrible idea for a movie. It actually looks pretty funny and the cast list is great. I would totally watch this.

Paul Hogan To Star In “Mr. Dundee”





Iconic “Crocodile Dundee” actor Paul Hogan is set to star as himself in the comedy “The Very Excellent Mr Dundee” at Piccadilly Pictures, Salt Media, Transmission Films.

In the film Hogan is on the brink of receiving a Knighthood for services to comedy but, despite all his best efforts, the next six weeks sees his name and reputation destroyed.

Dean Murphy (“Charlie & Boots,”” Strange Bedfellows”) helms the film and produces alongside Nigel Odel. No supporting cast has yet been announced and production starts next month in Australia, Los Angeles and Vancouver.
