Jon Hamm is in talks to join Natalie Portman in the upcoming sci-fi drama “Pale Blue Dot” for Fox Searchlight. Filming is slated to begin this Spring.

The story will follow a female astronaut who finds her very sense of reality coming undone after returning from an extended mission.

Hamm will be playing the role of her colleague and consequent object of desire after their mission.

“Fargo” and “Legion” showrunner Noah Hawley directs from a script by Brian C. Brown and Elliot DiGuiseppi. Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea will produce.

The original pale blue dot...

Voyager 1, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and take one last photograph of Earth across a great expanse of space - 6 000 000 000 kilometres or 3 700 000 000 miles or 40.5 Astronomical Units - at the request of astronomer and author Carl Sagan.

Seen from about 6 000 000 000 kilometres, Earth appears as a tiny dot - the bluish-white speck approximately halfway down the brown band to the right - within the darkness of deep space.

It is the intelligent, logical sanity of people like Carl Sagan that suggest there is hope for humanity.

Now if only the rest of our species would stop killing each other and everything else around them long enough to listen to his timeless message. :emoji_head_bandage:
