A release date already - and they haven't filmed a frame yet.

"Okay, we have a date. Now we need to put something in it!"

"Well, the janitor says he has an idea..."

"Yeah, that'll do. Tell him to have a full script ready by tomorrow. We start filming in the morning."

Your thoughts on this movie....

A spinoff of The Fate of the Furious, focusing on Johnson's US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham's Deckard Shaw.

Filming Begins On “Hobbs & Shaw”

Seventeen years after the franchise began, production is now underway on the first “Fast and the Furious” spin-off film. “Hobbs and Shaw” began filming today with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their roles.

Johnson, who has been busy filming Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” shared a first photo from the set below.

Johnson’s Agent Luke Hobbs was introduced in “Fast Five” and Statham’s Deckard Shaw in the end credits of “Fast and Furious 6”. While on opposite sides in the seventh, the eighth film had the two paired together and the chemistry was so good that the idea for a spin-off was born.

The new film also stars Idris Elba as the villain, “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” actress Vanessa Kirby as Shaw’s sister, and Helen Mirren as the Shaw family matriarch following a brief role in “The Fate of the Furious”.

Chris Morgan pens and David Leitch helms the film which is kicking off its shoot in the UK ahead of an August 2nd 2019 release.

“Furious” Producer Sues Over Spin-Off

Frequent film franchise producer Neal Moritz, who has served as a series-long producer on the “Fast and the Furious” films, is suing Universal Pictures over the currently in production spinoff feature “Hobbs and Shaw”.

Deadline reports that Moritz is suing for alleged breach of oral contract and promissory fraud. Moritz reportedly wants to be reinstated as lead producer on the film or be paid out ‘tens of millions of dollars in damages in lost compensation’.

Universal did not respond immediately request for comment on the lawsuit and no timeline has been indicated on how long this could take to get resolved. “Hobbs and Shaw” is currently targeting an August 11th 2019 release.

Hobbs and Shaw

Dwayne Johnson has posted a new photo from the set of the “Fast and Furious” spin-off film “Hobbs and Shaw”. The pic shows off Vanessa Kirby’s character Hattie Shaw, a tequila-drinking bad ass MI6 operative and sister of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) who hits it off with Hobbs (Johnson) – much to Deckard’s chagrin. Filming is underway ahead of a Summer 2019 release.

Easily the best thing about the otherwise forgettable “The Fate of the Furious” was the teaming of Dwayne Johnson’s Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s criminal Deckard Shaw. Their subplot was effectively a prison movie and the surprise was just how much chemistry the pair had together, so much so that Universal opted to push back the next entry in the series to try this spin-off focusing on the duo. Here they find themselves targeted by an international terrorist leader and criminal mastermind (Idris Elba), forcing them to turn to Shaw’s sister and MI6 agent Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) for help. Eddie Marsan and Eiza Gonzalez co-star in the film which is expected to be a fun but less bombastic than the main series has become, though with “Deadpool 2” and “Atomic Blonde” helmer David Leitch directing it won’t be short of action.

Filming has officially wrapped on “Hobbs and Shaw,” this Summer’s “Fast and Furious” spin-off film which follows Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their roles from the main series.

Statham, Johnson and producer Hiram Garcia have all posted photos in the last day or two from the set of the film which has yet to release any footage in cinemas or online. One of the photos shows off part of a big helicopter stunt with famed stunt pilot Fred North pulling off the manuever.

Vanessa Kirby can also be seen in one of the photos, the actress co-stars in the movie as does Idris Elba. The project kicked off filming in England and has now wrapped in Hawaii. Johnson is not expected to appear in “Fast and Furious 9” which begins filming next month, rather he’s jumping right to the next “Jumanji” movie.
