This movie has some moments. It really does. And I was pretty okay with the film, right up to the end. The end of the book was so good! And worse than them changing it, they did it to appease Jodie, who still didn't come back.

Here's a big issue I have. Actors who think they know better. Jodie said she didn't want to do it because "Clarice wouldn't do that". She presumed to know the character better than the person who created her! Just because you play the part doesn't mean it's your character. The writer is the one who came up with the idea, and what he does with them is their prerogative. I also blame the film makers for changing it anyway.

I agree with every word you say here.

I loved the ending of the book because it was so contrary to what you had been led to believe about Clarice.

Clearly Hannibal knew her better than she knew herself from the moment he met her and he just brought qualities out of her that she was unaware of.

Jodie should have taken up the challenge of blowing the public's mind with the book's ending.

But Julianne was as good as Jodie in the role anyway i.m.o.
