With “Nightwing” not making much progress, “The Lego Batman Movie” director Chris McKay is moving on for now and will helm a live-action “Jonny Quest” film at Warner Bros. Pictures.

The popular Hanna-Barbera primetime animated series told the thrilling stories of a young boy who accompanied his scientist father and on extraordinary escapades investigating scientific mysteries around the world.

Joining him was his adopted brother from Calcutta, his pet bulldog pup, and the government agent assigned to protect them. The original one-season series was revived in the 80’s and 90’s on the Cartoon Network.

Adrian Askarieh, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce. Attempts have been made since the 1990s to adapt the property with Richard Donner and Robert Rodriguez linked to previous incarnations. Dan Mazeau and Terry Rossio previously worked on the script.

“Jonny Quest” will serve as McKay’s immediate project after he wraps “Dungeons & Dragons” which will begin filming shortly for Paramount Pictures.

Your thoughts on this movie.......

Based on the memoir “All That Heaven Allows” by Mark Griffin, the story deals with the iconic leading man and closeted gay star of many romantic comedies for Universal in the 1950s and 1960s. His death via AIDS-related complications in 1985 lead to some of the earliest public discussions about the AIDS crisis and gay actors being forced to hide their sexuality.

Sarah Schechter and Sherry Marsh will produce and a writer is currently being sought. Berlanti just set the record for the most planned live-action scripted series to air in one year with 15 series at Warner Bros. TV across all of their digital, streaming and network services.

The “ALF” Reboot Has Been Scrapped

warners-considering-an-alf-reboot-696x464.jpg

The proposed reboot of late 1980s sitcom “ALF,” starring actors alongside a friendly and sarcastic puppeteered alien with a phallic nose and a taste for cats, has been killed off.

TV Line reports that: “Cats far and wide can breathe a sigh of relief: I’m hearing the proposed reboot is not moving forward at this time after failing to attract a suitor.” Basically no-one cared enough to make a revival of the property worth pursuing.

Murray Chapman penned the original series about a small, furry, arrogant extra-terrestrial from the planet Melmac who’s taken in by an average American family. Max Wright, Anne Schedeen and Paul Fusco starred.

ALF is still part of the pop-culture zeitgeist to this day. An attempt to revive the property with a 2012 live-action/CG hybrid film failed to get beyond the development state.

The actors really hated doing that show:

The goofy '80s sitcom about a furry wisecracking alien hiding out in a suburban family's house and trying to eat their cat was an inexplicable hit that ran on NBC for four years. Perhaps more inexplicable is that the ALF set was arguably one of the most unpleasant workplaces in TV history. Show creator and ALF puppeteer/voice actor Paul Fusco told The Hollywood Reporter that the show was technically difficult to produce, what with the trap doors all over the set where ALF had to be set up and actors having to navigate all those holes without looking down and ruining the illusion. A single episode could take as much as 25 hours to shoot, spread over two days. Anne Schedeen, who starred as (human) character Kate Tanner, told People in 2000 that "there was no joy on the set" and that some of the adult actors had "difficult personalities." Costar Andrea Olson (teen Tanner daughter Lynn) attributed that tension to "playing second fiddle to a puppet." Max Wright, who played apoplectic dad Willie Tanner, said that he was "hugely eager to have it over with." During the final season (1989-90), Wright reportedly got so frustrated that he came unglued one day and tried to attack the ALF puppet, screaming, "Put us on sticks! We're all puppets here!"

I was a really huge Alf fan as a kid. I loved the show, the cartoon, and had the trading cards. Looking back, I want to slap the shit out of little Chainsaw.

That's not what I meant!

CG Animated “Garfield” Sets Its Director

Alcon Entertainment is moving forward with its “Garfield” animated feature and has set Mark Dindal (“Chicken Little,” “The Emperor’s New Groove”) to direct. Dindal will helm from a screenplay by the writing team of Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove with pre-production set to begin next month in Los Angeles.

The “Garfield” comic strip debuted in 1978 and follows a cynical and lazy orange cat and his interactions with owner Jon Arbuckle and fellow pet Odie, a dog. Garfield ultimately appeared in 2,580 newspapers and journals and currently holds the record for being the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world.

Alcon bought the property’s rights from creator Jim Davis in 2016 with the plan to build a franchise of fully CG-animated “Garfield” feature films. John Cohen (“Despicable Me”) and Steven P. Wegner (“Dolphin Tale 2”) will produce alongside Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

The story is set in a future where ‘brilliants’, the rare 1% born gifted with superior mental abilities, are carefully tracked by the government. A federal agent is tasked with using his own gifts to infiltrate a radical group and hunt down another ‘brilliant’ who could plunge the entire country into a devastating civil war.

A film adaptation of the DC Comics property “Blue Beetle”.

The new film will focus on the third iteration of the character in comics, the one known as Jaime Reyes, as opposed to the more popular second incarnation Ted Kord.

Reyes, a Latino teenager, uses a scarab that grants the Blue Beetle his powers to create a powerful exoskeleton, similar to “Iron Man”.
