A live-action film adaptation of the hit Nickelodeon series “Dora the Explorer”;
Isabela Moner stars in the film’s title role, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora for the most dangerous adventure ever – high school.
She quickly finds herself leading Boots, Diego, and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Derbez Joins “Dora the Explorer” Film

Mexican star Eugenio Derbez (“Instructions Not Included,” “Overboard”) has joined the cast of the live-action “Dora the Explorer” film at Paramount Pictures and Walden Media. Details of his character are under wraps.

Isabela Moner is starring as the title character, a teenage version of the young Latina girl in the Nickelodeon series. That show followed a young Latina girl who went on adventures around the world. The movie will center on Dora as a teenager moving to the city and living with her cousin.

James Bobin directs from a script by Nick Stoller. Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing and the film has set an August 2nd 2019 release.

Benicio del Toro Joins “Dora the Explorer”

Actor Benicio del Toro has joined Paramount Players and Walden Media’s live-action film adaptation of the hit Nickelodeon series “Dora the Explorer” as infamous thieving fox Swiper.

Isabela Moner stars in the film’s title role, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora for the most dangerous adventure ever – high school.

She quickly finds herself leading Boots, Diego, and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

James Bobin is currently helming the project which marks the latina character’s big screen debut after fourteen seasons and 172 episodes. The movie opens August 2nd 2019.

When a film adaptation of the popular kids animated Nickelodeon’s series was announced, somehow Michael Bay’s name was linked as a potential producer which led to an online field day of jokes. Bay has since shot down talk of any involvement in the project, which is otherwise a fairly straightforward looking adaptation of the property being done by “The Muppets” duo of director James Bobin and writer Nicholas Stoller. In the new take, Isabela Moner stars as an older teenage Dora who spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents and now faces the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. She soon finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a ragtag group of teens on an adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

They should have used a real monkey instead of a CGI one.

I’ve never watched Dora the Explorer so I don’t know if this is a fun romp or a dreadful abomination, but isn’t she supposed to be a little girl?
