Back in the day, if we wanted to relive STAR WARS, we had the comic adaption....

We had the novelisation.....

And then we had this, the above radio show, that we might be sensible enough to record on ye olde cassette tape....

Even just dipping into the above show, at various points, I am gobsmacked about how different it is in so many ways, and how expanded it is from the original movie.

It really it an entity to itself, and I think, a neglected one.

The only one I heard on broadcast was this, the first one, but I can assume that the two follow ups have just as many surprises to offer?

It really is a pretty good listen, especially if you're a SW fan. There is so much at the beginning that really goes in depth to set up the abrupt start the film has. Obviously, a lot has been retconned, since the whole setup with Leia meeting an Imperial dignitary and getting the plans was changed for Rogue One, but the story is still great. I remember driving home from somewhere in the 90s, right before the prequels came out, and this was playing on NPR. It's nearly impossible to keep your car at the speed limit when the SW theme comes on. Also, Brock Peters was inspired casting for Darth Vader. Still menacing, but in a different way to James Earl Jones.
