“Doctor Who” Ditches Xmas For New Year

While seasons of the show have been sporadic at times, one fixed element of The BBC’s “Doctor Who” since its revival in 2005 has been its annual Christmas special which has also often served as either the exit or entry point of new incarnations Doctors.

That’s now changed with showrunner Chris Chibnall reportedly scrapping this year’s special altogether, the first time in thirteen years the series will go without one according to The Mirror. Their sources say the writers have ‘run out’ of Yuletide-themed episodes and so are ditching it.

Don’t fret Who-vians. Chibnall has also confirmed that the current eleventh season, which was originally going to be only ten episodes long, will now get an extra eleventh episode which will come after the events of the season: “We seem to be filming 11 episodes, and it’s only a series of 10… I would definitely think there’s another episode after the end of the series.”

In fact, the trade says the extra episode will air only a week later, serving as a New Year’s Eve special rather than a Christmas one and so likely will be just a standalone episode without any holiday theme.

It was really only in the Moffatt era that the stories were Christmas themed - RTD's were generally set around Christmas but didn't really base the story much around it and even several of Moffatt's were only very loosely Christmas themed and wouldn't have to have been changed much to work at any other time of year.. In any case I wouldn't pay too much attention to this story. I'd suspect it's more a case of the BBC simply changing the schedule. We're still getting a special and it's only a week later.

Shame it didn't get her! Did they not have much interaction at all? Listen to me, just because a Dalek turns up, I start to sound interested when I'm not!!!

This is where the BBBC will learn that their product isn't wanted!!!

Not sure about the ultimate impact on sales, but the bad reviews are indeed currently outweighing the good on Amazon. uk.

The new team and thirteen are fantastic.

Amazing series. The new team and thirteen are fantastic. Jodie Whittaker brings a Tennant like doctor to life but with her own stamp. Not sure why people have a problem with the female doctor. Strange reason to turn your nose way. Can't be a true fan if you do. Anyone that can enjoy sci-fi.. Time travel.... Aliens... Monsters. ... Surely can't mind the Doctor being a woman. Surely !!!

Total utter garbage

30 October 2018

What a total load of rubbish , Jodie Whittaker can’t act , Chris chibnall cant write. To much political correctness in this show. Timelords can’t change gender as Jon pertwee said to one of his assistants. Avoid like the plague , I will stick to classic who where the stories are more believable and so should you.

I have also heard on Planet Mondas - although not yet been able to confirm for certain - that Amazon uk are no longer publishing reviews on series 11 as a result, due to fears of sales being affected.

Regardless of the sales, I cannot shake series 11.

Let me explain.

I have had THIS stuck in my head all day.....

I don't know why this particular rendition of the theme has lodged itself in my cerebral cortex, playing constantly and loudly, echoing in my skull since I got up this morning.

But I simply cannot shake it! :emoji_anguished::emoji_head_bandage:
