The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known in short terms as Razzies and Razzie Awards) is a mock award in recognition of the worst in film. Co-founded by UCLA film graduates and film-industry veterans, John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy, the annual Razzie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles precedes the corresponding Academy Awards ceremony by one day. The term raspberry in the name is used in its irreverent sense, as in "blowing a raspberry". The awards themselves are in the form of a "golf ball-sized raspberry" atop a Super 8 mm film reel, all spray painted gold.

The first Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony was held on March 31, 1981, at John J. B. Wilson's living-room alcove in Los Angeles, to honor the worst in film of the 1980 film season. The 38th ceremony were held on March 3, 2018.

This year's nominees....

The Razzies have released the nominees for their annual award show and there are some pretty surprising titles on this list.
Great movies get honored and recognized left and right, but what about the horrible ones? Bad movies need some lovin’ too!
The nominees for the 37th annual Golden Raspberry Awards are finally here and to no one’s surprise – well, maybe a few people weren’t expecting this – but Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the top nominees for the most Razzie this year.
The movie received a total of eight nominations. To name a few of the categories Batman v. Superman found itself in, this includes worst actor as well as worst on-screen combo for both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, worst director, and sadly worst picture of 2016 where it is up against Dirty Grandpa, Gods of Egypt, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Zoolander number 2.
And speaking of Zoolander 2, the film received a whopping NINE nominees, while Dirty Grandpa received six, and Gods of Egypt, Hillary’s America, and Independence Day: Resurgence received five each.
But, those films aren’t the only ones up for Razzies. Other contenders include Megan Fox, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, Kristin Wiig, Nicolas Cage, Johnny Depp, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, The Entire Cast of Once Respected Actors AKA almost everyone who was in Collateral Beauty (ouch), and Tyler Perry – just to name a few.
For the first time this year, each of the categories were all opened up to six nominees as opposed to the usual five. According to the show’s organizers, they said QUOTE, “The crop of cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive that this year’s 37th annual Razzie Awards is expanding the number of nominees from the usual five to an unprecedented six contenders in each of its nine worst achievement in film categories.”
Welp, that’s one way to say a good majority of the movies in 2016 sucked. All of this goes down on February 25th, a day before Oscars awards are handed out.

“Emoji Movie” Wins The Razzie Awards

“The Emoji Movie” was clearly the big winner at the 38th annual Golden Raspberry Awards which celebrated the worst in filmmaking in 2017.

The film led the pack with seven nominations in January and won four of those – taking worst film, worst director, worst screenplay and worst screen combo for ‘any two obnoxious emojis’.

Other winners this year included Tom Cruise for “The Mummy”, Tyler Perry for “Boo 2! A Madea Halloween,” Kim Basinger for “Fifty Shades Darker” and Mel Gibson for “Daddy’s Home 2”. “Fifty Shades Darker” also scored the worst sequel award.

“Transformers: The Last Knight,” which led with seven nominations, came out of it empty-handed. “Baywatch” won the inaugural Special Rotten Tomatoes Award which was an online poll of a film so bad that people came back around to loving it.
