Yeah I've seen that cover before! I've got two issues somewhere, not sure where but I have the Kirk and Spock dancing and the Fonz issue which has a Space 1999 parody! Think they might be worth something but they're not in mint condition sadly!

Same here, Gav! I always wanted the original film as a book as a teenager, when my Apemania was at it's greatest!

I remember back in 75 or so that the only novels you could buy were Escape, Conquest and Battle! Now I wasn't happy with that so I kept going into a big bookshop in town to ask and eventually they said there was a novel based on Beneath and the original story! So I patiently waited until both turned up but was disappointed to discover that Monkey Planet is not the same story as Planet of The Apes! In the end it never did arrive as such until years later I discovered an edition called Planet of The Apes with photos from the first film on the cover and I decided to make do with that which was better than the other copy I had I guess!

Wasn't it Palitoy here in the UK, Doc? I had a few of those figures as a kid! Corneillius, Dr. Zaius, General Urko, Soldier Ape and Ursus! I've always been a great Apes fan and still love the original films and series to this very day!

Palitoy it indeed was, JB.

I never had an Ape figure, but did have Spock, The Thing and Lizard from Marvel.

I struggled at first with this universe colliding of franchises.

Then, after a burst of inspiration, I stripped Spock down to his underpants and - hey presto! - he began a new life as a fairly convincing Sub-Mariner!

Yes, Spock and the Sub Mariner have always looked very similar and as an avid comic collector I love that cover of Sub Mariner #35 as well, Doc! The Doctor Zaius figure pic takes me back some forty odd years to when I was obsessed with the Apes stuff! Happy days indeed!

One that is also on the way is a new film in the “Planet of the Apes” franchise – one that’s expected to continue on from the three recent ones and it’s unlikely director Matt Reeves will return as he’s busy with “The Batman”.
