I came by this fan-edited video and it's hilarious.
The editing is quite professional, you'd think it's a real love story :emoji_astonished:

Your thoughts and view on the work of J.K. Rowling.....

And what do you think of the various adaptions of her work?

I love all her writing. Read Harry Potter several times and am in the midst of reading Book 1 to my 7yo and Book 4 to my 11yo. I haven't yet seen Fantastic Beasts but am planning to when I have time to sit down and watch it.

I struggled a bit with A Casual Vacancy but once the plots started to thread together became hooked and ended up loving it
    despite the depressing ending.

And I'm a huge fan of the Cormoran Strike series. I hope she keeps going with those and am looking forward to seeing the TV series when it comes out.

Harry Potter Fan Film Gets Full Blessing from Warner Bros.

    NEc1AnNS3hpoff_1_b.jpg

The fan-made live action Voldemort story has gotten the OK from Warner Bros. to carry on.

Fan-made movies, trailers and mashup videos can be a mixed bag, to say the least. We have been lucky to see some truly innovative and creative clips and projects come into the public consciousness, but most stay obscure for a reason. The Harry Potter fan-made trailer for Voldemort: Origins of the Heir is definitely something worth celebrating, not only because it's a dream come true for many Harry Potter devotees, but also because it is insanely well done.

The fan-made trailer made by Gianmaria Pezzato and Stefano Prestia under their Tryangle Films banner had a running Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to continue production on the epic movie, but the campaign was abruptly cut short, leading many to believe that the filmmaking duo had received a cease and desist letter from the brass at Warner Bros. Pezzato explained their conversation with Warner Bros. Pezzato explains the situation.

"We had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros. who contacted us during the period of the crowd funding campaign. The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a non profit way, obviously."

This is great and unexpected news for those wanting to see the origins of He Who Must Not Be Named. This is also amazing because Warner Bros. can see the obvious passion that Pezzato and Prestia have brought into the sprawling world that J.K. Rowling created. Pezzato went on to tell Polygon about the motivation behind their project.

"We wondered, 'What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back?'" There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: The rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise."

The Half Blood Prince contained some backstory on Voldemort , but for the most part there isn't a whole lot of official knowledge about the Dark Lord's rise to power. Perhaps J.K. Rowling might provide some insight to Pezzato and Prestia?

The trailer has the slick look of a professional movie trailer with its use of clever special effects and wonderful sound design. The movie will be a not for profit affair and it will explore the period of time in which Tom Marvolo Riddle ran out on Hogwarts. Riddle then goes on a bloody murder spree to obtain the magical artifacts to create the Horcruxes. It is unclear how far the movie will delve into each piece of official information on Riddle's story and how much the duo will have to make up along the way.

Warner Bros. is allowing the movie to be made on the condition that Tryangle Films makes no money off of their project. The movie will be able to watch for free on YouTube when it is completed and it is unknown when Pezzato and Prestia plan to have the movie completed. If you have not seen the 52-second trailer, watch it below and try to throw some support to Tryangle Films in any way you can. The amount of time and dedication that went into their trailer is ridiculous and it demands your attention.

J.K. also fires off the occasional unbeatable tweet for the limited attention span of the current occupant of the White House.

I haven't read anything of hers outside of the world of Potter, but that alone should grant her sainthood. I love the movies as well, even though they don't quite match the perfection of her books. I watched the trailer for the Voldemort fan film, and it looks really good. I did find another fan film that is definitely worth your while, if you're a Potterhead. A bit lengthy, but great.

And to those anuses who still go on about how Harry and Hermione should have ended up together, you can all piss off!

You really should give them a try. They're pretty good. Although they depend on your level of interest in the different genres. They are quite different from the Harry Potter fantasy world.

I fully intend to. I just haven't found the time to read them yet. I love all genres of writing, and I'm already a fan, so I'm certain I'll love her other books.

I struggled a bit with A Casual Vacancy as takes a good while to really get the storylines intertwined. But I was hooked from the first chapter of The Cuckoo's Calling.

What JK Rowling said about the first Harry Potter book

JK Rowling - then known as Joanne - speaks in 1997 about how she felt seeing her first Harry Potter book in the shops.

It's 20 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published.

Rowling was interviewed by CBBC Blue Peter's Konnie Huq in December 1997.

I have to admit I've never been much of a fan of her writing, but her blasts at Rump make me laugh like hell.

From HARRY POTTER to FANTASTIC BEASTS.....

    and everything in between....

Discuss the HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE HERE....

Could the franchise be running out of steam?

Or is it still going strong?

And what of the future of this particular shared universe?

    TV shows? Movies? Whatever......

Given how much I enjoyed the first Fantastic Beasts (much to my surprise) I don't see any signs that its going to be running out of steam any time soon. I'm a big fan of J.K Rowling's writing and am willing to have faith that if she says she's got a story that will take 5 movies to tell that's she's at least got a good idea of where the story is going. As opposed to many other franchises where they just write the next movie with no real thought about how it all fits together.

I agree with @Gavin. I, too, enjoyed Fantastic Beasts, and I think this series is going to be a lot of fun, and certainly will add more depth to a wonderful universe.
As much as I love the Star Wars universe, I dislike how it's really not planned out as much as they'd like us to think.

Harry Potter gets a weird new chapter from a computer

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/42348846/harry-potter-gets-a-weird-new-chapter-from-a-computer

The Harry Potter series may have finished, but the boy wizard has got another chapter.

Harry Potter and the Portrait of What Looked Like a Large Pile of Ash is a new story created by a predictive keyboard.

"He saw Harry and immediately began to eat Hermione's family," runs one line from the ridiculous - and funny - tale.

It was created by the team at Botnik, who fed all seven books through their computer programme.

We've clearly reached the pinnacle of human achievement. I see no reason for humanity to continue after this.
