Your thoughts on this movie....

Two would-be rockers from San Dimas, California, were once told they'd save the universe during a time-traveling adventure, but find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny.

A Third “Bill & Ted” Is Officially Happening

It’s official, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are set to reprise their iconic roles as time-travellers Ted Theodore Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. in a third film in the “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” film series – one which lists Steven Soderbergh as an executive producer.

Titled “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” original creators Chris Matheson (“Imagine That”) and Ed Solomon (“Men in Black”) have penned the script while Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest,” “Red 2”) is confirmed to direct. Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce will produce while Soderbergh, Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr. and John Santilli will executive produce.

In the new film the duo
are long past their days as time-travelling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and family commitments. Despite many attempts, they’ve yet to write a good song let alone the greatest ever written.

With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns only their song can save life as we know it. They set out on a time travel adventure to find it, with the help of their daughters, historical figures, and sympathetic music legends.

MGM owns the rights to the film and will release it in the U.S. under its Orion Pictures banner. Bloom is handling international sales, which began in Cannes this week. The film is currently in pre-production.

Soderbergh Talks Status Of “Bill & Ted 3”

One of the more unexpected casting credits assigned to the long in development third “Bill and Ted” film is that of filmmaker Steven Soderbergh.

Rumored to be titled “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” this follow-up to the iconic late 1980s/early 1990s films starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter has been discussed as a possibility for well over a decade. However, over the past year, there’s been serious steam behind it with writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon having done a script and plans for filming to begin early this year.

Appearing at the Slamdance Film Festival this week, Soderbergh confirmed to CNetthat a script is done and he dubs it “hilarious”. Asked about a potential release date, he suggests it could be as early as this Christmas and adds: “That’d be a good Christmas present”.

Both Winter and Reeves have talked about the film in recent times, the new project sees the two Wyld Stallyns bandmates as middle-aged men with families whose musician future did not go as planned. Soderbergh jokes “nobody’s getting paid” for the film which is being seen as a “love gig” for everyone involved.

Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest”) is attached to helm.

I am so torn on this one. On one hand, I love the first two films, and have always wanted to see a sequel. On the other hand, this has real potential to fail, and fail hard, which just sullies the whole series.

Following on from ‘Excellent Adventure’ and ‘Bogus Journey’ the stakes are higher than ever for William ‘Bill’ S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfil their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when
a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe
.
Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends. Original franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon are back for the new film with director Dean Parisot helming the project which begins filming shortly.
