Review Blackadder

Always a favourite of mine. First series was okay but it was when they changed the character into the self-centred, Machiavellian misanthrope that the show really took off. Series 2 and 4 are great but 3 is probably my favourite.

Then there were the specials (civil war, Victorian, time travel).

There was talk of a series 5 being set in the swinging 60s but it never happened.

Honestly, after the way they ended series 4, I don't know how they could have upped the ante. That ending is still one of my favorite finales ever. The specials are great, but I don't know that they could have effectively done another full series.

I love the relationship between Blackadder and Baldrick. He has the utmost hatred for his servant, but Baldrick is so loyal, even though he deserves better in life.

Baldrick: "But I've been in your family for generations."
Blackadder: "So has syphilis."

And yes, I agree, series 3 is the best of the bunch.
