Talulah Riley (“Westworld”) and Alex Hernandez (“Unreal”) have joined the cast of the Vin Diesel-led “Bloodshot,” the upcoming film adaptation of the Valiant Entertainment comic at Sony Pictures.

The story follows a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up super powered outcasts called ‘Harbingers’. The plan is for a five-film shared universe based on the comics.

Riley will play Bloodshot’s wife Gina, while Hernandez will play the scientist Tibbs who is partly responsible for Bloodshot’s nanite technology. They join Sam Heughan, Eiza Gonzalez and Michael Sheen who also co-star in the film which begins shooting in July.

Neal Moritz and Dinesh Shamdasani will produce while Dave Wilson directs.

Vin Diesel has closed a deal to star in the film adaptation of the Valiant sci-fi/action comic book series “Bloodshot” at Sony Pictures.

Said to boast a tone akin to the 1980s action films of Paul Verhoeven and James Cameron, Diesel would play Ray Garrison, a soldier brought back to life through the use of nanotechnology and suffering from total memory loss.

Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants (called Chainsaw). The project aims to begin shooting in July and plans to be the first of a potential franchise.

Dave Wilson, who co-runs VFX house Blur Studios with “Deadpool” director Tim Miller, will make his feature directing debut with the script by Eric Heisserer (“Arrival,” “Lights Out”). Wilson has previously directed the cinematics and trailers of many acclaimed video games including “Mass Effect 2,” “Bioshock Infinite” and “The Division”.

Toby Kebbell Takes On Vin Diesel In “Bloodshot”

Toby Kebbell (“Rocknrolla,” “Kong: Skull Island”) has been cast as the villain Axe in the Vin Diesel-led film adaptation of the Valiant Comics title “Bloodshot”.

Specifics of the role being played by Kebbell, who has been playing villains for some time from “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” to “Fantastic Four,” are under wraps. He’s likely the film’s take on the character ‘Ax’, a self-professed computer wizard.

Diesel plays a former soldier killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades, filling his body with billions of nanobots. This allows him to be the perfect soldier by healing from injuries, shapeshift, and even interact with technology.

Sam Heughan, Eiza Gonzalez, Michael Sheen, Talulah Riley and Alex Hernandez co-star in the film which was penned by Eric Heisserer and will be helmed by Dave Wilson. Shooting begins in July.

The plan is for this to serve as the start of a five-film shared universe based on the Valiant comic books. “Fast and the Furious” franchise producer Neal Moritz is producing alongside Dinesh Shamdasani while Eric Heisserer (“Arrival,” “Extinction”) penned the script.
