Review Arrival (2016)

I sort of liked Arrival, but I would have preferred that it kept itself more loyal to the original short story. The main different for me is not the language, but the concept of letting loved ones go. The daughter grows to become a wealthy / successful adult who dies in a car accident. It is the daughter's decision to join the rat race and to have a career which makes her loads and loads of money. That was the most interesting aspect for me. Louise had to let Hannah take her own decisions. This thing about the daughter dying of an illness doesn't represent well one of the main points of Chiang's Story of You.

And I didn't like this sudden "happy ending". It doesn't fit.
