Mark Hamill Is Chucky’s New Voice
Mark Hamill has been announced as the voice of Chucky in the upcoming “Child’s Play” reboot for Orion Films.
The news was announced at Orion’s panel at WonderCon this evening and fans reportedly howled with excitement when Hamill appeared on overhead video screens with a taped greeting. He steps into a role made famous by Brad Dourif in all the films released to date
Hamill has been an accomplished voice actor for decades now, most famously as The Joker in numerous animated series, films and video games based on the “Batman” franchise. He’s also provided voice work for numerous Marvel shows, Studio Ghibli films, animated comedies like “The Simpsons” and “Robot Chicken,” and countless video games.
The story follows a mother (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio and Carlease Burke also star in the remake which switches out the supernatural element (a possessed doll) of the original for one of a malfunctioning killer robot doll.
