The new series’ fourth episode – called Arachnids in the UK (see what they did there) – set to see the Tardis team take on mysterious spiders in Sheffield.

According to a new release from the BBC, the new story will see the Doctor and co return to Sheffield and meet Yaz’s (Mandip Gill) family, before realising something strange is happening to the eight-legged residents of the city.

“Something’s happening with the spiders in this city.”

The Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan find their way back to Yorkshire – and Yaz’s family – only to find something is stirring amidst the eight-legged arachnid population of Sheffield.

It goes without saying that if you’re afraid of spiders, skip this episode.

Yaz’s family is pretty amusing. I’d love to see more of her dad. Her mother is kind of annoying. You’re fired from your job and surrounded by giant spiders, and you keep asking your daughter if she’s romantically involved with everybody she knows? And Yaz doesn’t act much like a cop.

Lazy Trump doppelganger, heavy-handed anti-gun message. Oh, it’s more humane to let the spiders suffocate slowly than shoot them quickly and get it over with? Not too well thought out.

The companions and the Doctor are becoming nicely fleshed out, though. Graham especially.

Wow, that was pretty heavy-handed right there! And pretty risky on the Doctor’s part. I guess some things never change.
