5. Black Orchid
The first true historical story since 1967 and Patrick Troughton's second story. No Sci Fi at all except our heroes time travelling to the 1920's. The Doctor is mistaken by Lord Cranleigh for a medical friend of a friend he was expecting at a cricket match. The Doctor partakes in the game, playing magnificently and then he and companions accept an invitation to a masked ball at Cranleigh's Manor House.
At the ball is Anne Talbot, physically identical to Nyssa and at the ball they dress identically as a jape to cause confusion. But Anne is attacked by a figure in a Harlequin costume, the costume the Doctor was given. The Doctor is arrested but Lady Cranleigh is hiding a secret, someone unseen is being hidden in the house, the ex fiance of Anne and Cranleigh's brother, disfigured by South American natives for attempting to steal the black orchid flower, sacred to the natives.

On Earth in the future a military team are investigating a cave system looking for a lost scientific expedition. Two shadowy figures are attacking them and the bodies discovered are burnt to a crisp. The Doctor and team arrive in the caves and notice the fossil remains of dinosaurs, according to the Doctor, wiped out by a cataclysm 65 million years ago. Two androids are found to be the killers, guarding a metal hatchway. After disposing of them with the military teams help , the hatchway is found to contain a bomb capable of blowing Earth asunder. With that deactivated, the signal to set the bomb off is traced to a spaceship heading for Earth. On board hidden away, without the crew's knowledge is an army of Cybermen. After their bomb failed the Cybermen plan to sneak onto Earth via this innocent ship but after the Doctor stops that , the Cybermen have one last chance, to turn the ship into a huge bomb, capable of destroying Earth, but the ship is going back in time as well, back 65 million years.
Last story for Adric.

A dog like being called The Garm takes the leprosy sufferers to a radioactive area of Terminus for crude radiation therapy .The staff are sufferers themselves an live on Hydromyl, a drug supplied by Terminus Inc that runs the place. Nyssa discovers that by using her scientific skills she can synthesise the drug and free Terminus from the control of the company that has no interest in curing leprosy. Turlough meanwhile has had opportunities to kill the Doctor but can't bring himself to do it. The Black Guardian has manoeuvred the Doctor into this mess on Terminus to give Turlough ample scope to kill the Doctor, but the Guardian is losing patience with Turlough, and is going to give him one more chance to do the job.....or else.

12. Enlightenment
Final story in this little trilogy known as the Black Guardian trilogy. A race of timeless beings called Eternals race huge spaceships across the solar system. These Eternals are so powerful that the ships are literally created by reading the minds of the human sailors they have kidnapped to crew the ships. The White Guardian contacts the Doctor to urge him to attend the race to stop the winner attaining enlightenment. This is very vague and puzzling but the Doctor, Tegan and Turlough go on board Captain Striker's ship, a recreated Victorian sailing ship, with electrical engines , racing other ships across the solar system using solar winds to gain speed. This is a very inventive and mind blowing concept. Enlightenment is a huge crystal that will bring ultimate power. The Black Guardian wants the Eternals to have it as they are creatures with no concept of right and wrong and will invade time itself and bring chaos to the universe. Turlough's inability or desire to kill the Doctor means he faces the wrath of the Black Guardian and jumps overboard in a suicidal attempt to free himself.

17. Frontios
Turlough faces creatures that are remembered via the race memory of his people. Tractators are insect like creatures with the power to generate gravity. They are hidden underneath an Earth colony in the far far future, and using gravity to bring down meteorites onto the planet surface to destroy the colony. Their aim is to soften the colony up and use the bodies of colonists sucked into the ground and use them in their mining machines. They have honeycombed the planet with tunnels carved to mathematical perfection to turn the planet itself as a gravity driven vehicle to wander the cosmos conquering whoever they fancy.

18. Resurrection Of The Daleks
Davros , imprisoned on a prison space station for crimes against sentient life, the Dalek creator is rescued by The Daleks wanting his help to combat a virus killing them. The tardis team arrive in London near Tower Bridge, and face pistol shooting coppers, fugitives from the future, the army and cylinders containing the virus. There's a time tunnel linking this time with the space prison era. Davros when freed has his own Daleks obeying him, instead of the Supreme Dalek, and thus starts a split in Dalek ranks that will reverberate in future stories. The battle on the space station to free Davros, and the battle on Earth as the Daleks travel down the time corridor to stop The Doctor getting hold of the cannisters of virus, results in many deaths. This story body count is massive and Tegan has had enough and decides to leave the tardis and stay on Earth.

19. Planet Of Fire
Kamelion the shape shifting android from The King's Demons story is still in the tardis, and reprogrammes the tardis to home in on a signal its picking up. The signal is from a piece of metal recovered from the sea bed in the Mediterranean. A salvage operation to lift a boat from the bed of the Mediterranean is led by Howard Foster, his step daughter is Perpegillium Brown aka Peri. The Doctor and Turlough are here in Lanzarote to track the signal and Peri is rescued by Turlough after she nearly drowned in the sea. Peri is taken on-board and with her is this piece of metal that is emitting the signal that she stole from her stepdad wanting to sell it to finance her gap year travels. Kamelion changes shape to Howard, reading Peri's thoughts then changes to The Master.
Kamelion is mentally linked to the Master from their past association. Phew! Complicated this.....now The Master is in trouble on the planet Sarn and Kamelion is coming to his rescue, unbeknown to the Doctor who is just following the signal , goes to Sarn to meet colonists sheltering in volcanic tunnels and worship Logar the Fire God. This does all tie in, and Turlough reveals Sarn is a Trion prison planet and the Sarn people are the indigenous people and their God Logar was volcanologists taming the Volcano from Trion, Turlough's home planet. Last story for Turlough.

20. Caves Of Androzani
Last story for 5th Doctor. On Androzani Minor a war is raging between Androzani Major military and Sharez Jek, a genius in Android technology, and an outcast from homeworld Androzani Major. Jek and his Android army are in cahoots with mercenaries protecting their huge supply of Spectrox. Spectrox is mined here on Androzani Minor, a moon, and is the most valuable of substances. It when drank can extend human life by up to 50 years, holding back ageing. Jek is holding the Government on Major to ransom, no deal no Spectrox. The Doctor and Peri arrive on Minor , mistaken for rebel mercenaries by the army and executed by firing squad. But they were rescued by Jek at the last moment and perfect Android versions of them are the ones executed.
Sharez Jek wears a hood to hide his horribly burnt face for which he blames Government official Morgus, and his price to release the Spectrox to a desperate people clamouring for their elixir of youth, is the head of Morgus, at his feet. The Doctor and Peri are infected by touching a sticky fugus ball, and have Spectrox Toximia and are going to die. This does bring about the regeneration of the 5th Doctor , who although has found the cure, bats milk, there's enough for Peri but not him.

And the fifth Doctor becomes the sixth.
