14. The Deadly Assassin
The story that in many ways rewrote the show's mythology. On the Time Lords home planet of Gallifrey the President has been assassinated and The Doc arrives alone having had a precognition of the assassination in the tardis. He is arrested for the murder when he is discovered with the murder weapon. He claims he didn't kill the President but was aiming for the real killer standing close by during the ceremony marking the President's farewell speech. The Doctor has to enter the matrix to prove his innocence. Yes, The Matrix, years before the film! The Matrix is an unreal landscape, an electronic virtual reality where dead Time Lords minds are transferred moments before death. The Matrix has been invaded by an old enemy...The Master is back with a plan to extend his life beyond the permitted 12 incarnations and destroy the Doctor and Gallifrey to boot.

20. Image Of The Fendahl
The Doctor traces the use of a dangerous time scanner to Earth and the English countryside. In a quiet secluded house four scientists led by Professor Fendleman have made an incredible discovery. They are archaeologists and have unearthed a skull buried in a strata of rock millions of years before mankind was around. Fendleman is using his time scanner to trace the origin of the skull, but is inadvertently opening up a fissure in spacetime. The skull is the remains of the Fendahl, an entity which is the result of evolution going up a blind alley, it feeds on its own kind, and on life itself. The Fendahl is using energy created by Fendleman's scanner to recreate itself. Fendleman and Fendahl...coincidence or not ?
