Review Elvira (Cassandra Peterson)

Doctor Omega

Discuss all things Elvira (and Cassandra Peterson) here.......

Cassandra Peterson (born September 17, 1951) is an American actress best known for her portrayal of the horror hostess character Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. She gained fame on Los Angeles television station KHJ-TV wearing a revealing, black, gothic, cleavage-enhancing gown as host of Elvira's Movie Macabre, a weekly horror movie presentation. Her wickedly vampish appearance is offset by her comical character, quirky and quick-witted personality, and Valley girl-type speech.

New “Elvira” Film Shopped Around

Cassandra Peterson’s iconic character Elvira has been the subject of two films, both of which were some time ago. Yet the former horror host with a unique look and personality remains very popular with horror fans, so much so Peterson has expressed a desire to bring back the character once again for a new film.

Appearing at a Q&A session at Salem Horror Fest to celebrate the 30th anniversary screening of 1988’s “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark,” Peterson says she’s written a full treatment and is currently in the process of shopping it around.

Should it be picked up, it more than likely will be for a streaming service and won’t be in cinemas. Streaming outlet Shudder recently brought former horror host Joe Bob Briggs back, presenting several films to fans in a 24-hour marathon, but it proved so popular it wound up crashing the service.
