Winstead Joins Ang Lee’s “Gemini Man”
Mary Elizabeth Winstead has scored the female lead in Ang Lee’s sci-fi thriller “Gemini Man” at Skydance and Paramount Pictures. Filming is slated to begin next month.
Will Smith stars as Henry, an ageing assassin intent on retirement who takes on his ultimate opponent – a clone who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities. Smith will play both roles.
Winstead beat out Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) for the role and will play an operative who works for the same company as the older Henry and has been ordered to surveil him. She soon teams up with him.
Clive Owen is currently in talks to play one of the villains – the head of the cloning program. Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison and Dana Goldberg will produce.
