He does confirm latter episodes will see Jim Gordon and a masked Bruce Wayne going head to head.

Fish Mooney Won’t Return To “Gotham”

Executive producer John Stephens has confirmed that Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Fish Mooney won’t be returning to its Batman prequel series “Gotham”.

Mooney, a regular in the first season and an occasional guest star in the second and third, has seemingly died a few times now on the series, the most recent being the third season finale when a rage virus-controlled Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) shoved a sword through her stomach.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Stephens shuts down theories of her return: “I’m afraid that’s it. Now, that one was it. At a certain point, you gotta say ‘Definitely.’ People die at a certain point, and that’s the second or third time they die [on Gotham].”

“Gotham” moves to Thursday nights this Fall starting from this week with the fourth season premiere.

Peyton List Is The New Poison Ivy In “Gotham”

“Frequency” and “Mad Men” star Peyton List will become the third actress to take on the role of Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy in FOX’s “Gotham” during its current fourth season.

The series started off with Ivy as a young girl (Clare Foley) who, early in the third season, was exposed to chemicals and suddenly aged up into a young woman (Maggie Geha). Why she’s changed again isn’t clear, but the press release says:

“In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy. She’ll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise.”

List is familiar with comic book series, having had the recurring role of Captain Cold’s sister Golden Glider on “The Flash” on The CW. Her take on the Batman villainess is expected to debut in early 2018.

David W. Thompson is set to replace Charlie Tahan in the role of Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow on the fourth season of FOX’s “Gotham”. Tahan’s commitment to Netflix’s “Ozark” precluded him from reprising the role. Thompson will make his debut as Scarecrow this spring after the show returns for the second half of the fourth season on March 1st.

“Gotham” To Wrap With Shorter Fifth Season

Ahead of its upfront presentation, FOX has announced it has given the green light to a fifth and final season of its Batman prequel series “Gotham”.

FOX says in a statement: “The fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

It’s expected the season will be a shorter run of thirteen episodes, taking the show’s count up to 101 episodes which would be enough required for syndication. The final season will also see Bruce Wayne’s transformation into the caped crusader.

The news comes ahead of the show’s fourth season finale to air this Thursday.

Bane’s Father Coming To “Gotham”?

Though it will contain fewer episodes, the upcoming fifth and final season of FOX’s “Gotham” will still have time to include the father of one of Batman’s most iconic villains – Bane.

The Hashtag Show reports that the series is currently in the process of casting the character Eduardo Dorrance, a name very similar to Bane’s paternal figure Edmund Dorrance in the comics.

Dorrance will be a recurring guest star role, arriving mid-season for a three-episode run. Aged mid 30s to early 40s, he is described as: “a well-fit warrior, with a ceaseless commitment to following the orders of whoever is taking charge. And his loyalty knows no bounds, with Dorrance having zero tolerance for betrayal at any level.”

Bane himself had previously been rumored to show up in the series, though it has yet to happen. The final season kicks off in January.

Frank Miller’s Mutants Coming To “Gotham” S5?

FOX’s “Gotham” is going out with a bang. The upcoming shortened fifth and final season of the “Batman” prequel series has introduced almost every major Batman villain in one way or another whilst some of the few remaining stragglers like Bane will finally appear in the new season.

In a surprise inclusion though, new set photos on social media from filming on the new season indicate that some variation on the Mutant Leader from Frank Miller’s iconic “The Dark Knight Returns” comic is going to show up.

The fourth season finale saw Gotham’s bridges destroyed, cutting off the island from the mainland and leading into the show’s take on the No Man’s Land storyline from the comics. It would appear as though the series will also incorporate the delinquent gang from the Miller comic which is set on the other end of the Batman timeline when Bruce Wayne is heading towards old age.

“Gotham” is slated to return mid-season on FOX.

Shane West Could Be Bane In “Gotham”

Shane West (“Nikita,” “ER”) has scored a key villainous recurring role in the upcoming fifth and final season of FOX’s “Gotham”.

West will play Eduardo Dorrance, an old Army buddy of Jim Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie) who lost touch with Jim after the war. Dorrance returns to Gotham years later, leading a team of elite soldiers with the goal of helping Gordon restore order to the No Man’s Land Gotham has become in the wake of the fourth season finale.

Soon, Gordon realizes Dorrance’s true intentions are much darker than he could have believed. It’s being suggested West could very well end up playing Bane, a villain that is expected to be introduced in this season. In the comics, Bane’s father is Sir Edmund Dorrance (aka King Snake).

“Gotham” has shown the fathers of villains like Black Mask and The Scarecrow before, but as the show heads into its home stretch it isn’t holding back on introducing bad guys at this point with Bane being one of the few yet to rate a mention. The Ventriloquist/Scarface, Lady Shiva, Mother & Orphan are also expected to show up in the thirteen episode run.

“Gotham” Producers Talk The Batsuit

Like any prequel series, “Gotham” has been building towards a story where we know the outcome – in this case the big reveal of Bruce Wayne as Batman. Of course prequels have often disappointed with their big moment – “Smallville” took ten seasons to only show Clark pulling aside his shirt, while “Star Wars” gave Darth Vader a Frankenstein-like birthing moment that was widely criticised.

Speaking with Bam Smack Pow this week, showrunner John Stephens says he’s well aware of fan expectations and they’re putting in the right amount of resources to do it right:

“I think it’s more matte. It’s inspired by, if I had to compare to any one costume, I’d say it’s closer to The Dark Knight Rises. It’s a little more metallic Bat battle-y looking rather than something like the Suicide one or the Affleck one.

[It’s an issue of] how much money can we allocate towards spending on this costume because it’s got to look good. Because you don’t want to spend five years, and all of a sudden go, ‘Great episode, but that was a really crappy looking costume.’ There’s a lot of pressure, but luckily our wardrobe department is amazing so all the designs they’re doing are going to be great. And we went with short ears.”

Batman has worn numerous costumes over the years both in live-action and other forms such as the ‘Arkham’ video games (including the one pictured above). “Gotham” returns mid-season for its fifth and final season with the new Batsuit expected to be revealed in the final episode.

“Pennyworth,” “Gotham” Add Non-Canon Villains

pennyworth-gotham-add-non-canon-villains-696x464.jpg

Two “Batman” prequel series have just cast two villains that seemingly aren’t members of their progenitor’s famed rogue’s gallery.

“Hustle,” “Warehouse 13” and “Dexter” star Jaime Murray has scored a recurring role in the fifth and final season of “Gotham”. The British actress will play Theresa Walker, a woman who emerges as Jim Gordon’s principal nemesis in the season and who comes to Gotham harbouring a dark secret about her past.

The casting comes as it has been revealed that FOX has upped its episode count for the new season of “Gotham,” expanding its run from ten to twelve episodes.

When that show wraps, key producers will shift over to Epix’s “Pennyworth” series about a young version of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth. That series has just cast Jason Flemyng as Lord Hardwood, an upper-class Englishman who is “cultured, urbane, brilliant and supremely sure of himself. His sadistic, cruel nature has a veneer of charm.”

The last season of “Gotham” kicks off January 3rd, while “Pennyworth” is expected to premiere late 2019.
