Gotti
Director: Kevin Connolly (“Dear Eleanor,” “Gardener of Eden”)
Cast: John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Stacy Keach, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Spencer Lofranco
Details: Currently in search of a new distributor able to give it a wide release, the question with “Entourage” actor turned filmmaker Kevin Connolly’s true story mob drama film is when and how we’ll see it. The project has been in the works for many years and finally got rolling in mid-2016 but then, last month and under two weeks before it was slated to premiere, the film was pulled from distribution with Lionsgate selling it back to the producers at their request.

The producers certainly want to get this movie out there and shown, but is it good and commercial enough for a wide release? Hard to say as it hasn’t been reviewed at this point. The film spans three decades and chronicles Gambino crime family head Don Gotti (John Travolta) and his tumultuous life as he and his wife (Kelly Preston) attempt to hold the family together amongst tragedy and multiple prison sentences.

Travolta’s “Gotti” Gets 0% On Rotten Tomatoes

The John Travolta-led mob drama “Gotti” opens today and has already earned itself a unique honor – a rare 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Travolta plays John Gotti, former boss of Gambino crime family, in the film which was spearheaded by the late crime boss’ son John Gotti Jr. Producers of the film have been struggling to get it made for a decade.

Ultimately Kevin Connolly directed the film which also stars Kelly Preston, Stacy Keach, and Pruitt Taylor Vince. The film was supposed to open in December last year but it was postponed as the producers wanted a theatrical run.

This marks the third Travolta film to score a 0% RT rating, the other two being “Look Who’s Talking Too” and “Staying Alive”.

How can a gangster film, based on a real character, starring John Travolta, earn a rating of 0%?

“Gotti” Now Selling Itself On Critical Hate

The team behind the John Travolta-led mobster drama “Gotti” are using the critical condemnation of the film as a marketing asset.

A few days ago came word that the movie had earned the ignominious honor of a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes with every critic who reviewed it panning the film. Rather than the now commonplace ‘we did it for the fans’ line, the producers have released a new TV spot which offers a different take.

In the clip, the producers proceed to trash film journalists – insulting and insinuating bias – in order to generate controversy and hopefully box-office. “Gotti” earned just $1.7 million in its first weekend, with a reported 40% of that gross coming from subscribers to MoviePass.
