Lowery, A24 Team For “Green Knight”
“A Ghost Story” and “The Old Man and the Gun” director David Lowery has been set to helm “Green Knight” at A24 which distributed those two earlier Lowery films. The story is dubbed a “fantasy epic retelling of the medieval tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”.
The chivalrous Sir Gawain accepts the challenge of beheading the Green Knight and must wait a year and a day to receive a blow in return. In the end, it was a test of his loyalty to the king.
Lowery will direct and produce along with Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston for Ley Line and BRON Studios. Stephen Weeks directed both previous film adaptations of the story in 1973 and 1984, the latter starring Sean Connery.
