A New “Kung Fu” Series In The Works

FOX has handed out a put pilot commitment for a re-telling of the classic David Carradine-led 1970s martial arts western series “Kung Fu”.

The new take features a young Chinese-American woman who inherits her late father’s kung fu studio, only to find that it houses a secret chamber where he dedicated his life to helping members of the Chinatown community. It’s speculated the father character will be Carradine’s Caine from the original.

The project isn’t to be confused with another and different attempt at a remake last year which would’ve followed a Buddhist monk travelling through 1950s America looking for her stolen child.

Albert Kim and Greg Berlanti will executive produce the new take.

Um, okay. I mean, it sounds like it could be a good show, but this is a show that really doesn't need remaking, outside of finally being brave enough to actually hire an Asian actor to play an Asian. But still, I'll probably end up watching it, because I am a fan of the original, and even liked the spin off it had in the 90s.
