Sony Pictures Television has released the first photo from their “Bad Boys” TV series spinoff “L.A.’s Finest”.

Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba star in the thirteen-episode series which follows Syd Burnett (Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective.

Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Syd is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret.

The series also stars Ernie Hudson as Joseph Burnett, Zack Gilford as Ben Walker, Duane Martin as Ben Baines, and Ryan McPartlin as Patrick McKenna. The series premieres on the Spectrum network in 2019.

“L.A.’s Finest” Producer's Leg Amputated After Accident

Last week came news that production was briefly shut down on “L.A.’s Finest,” the upcoming “Bad Boys” spin-off TV series, following two injuries on set.

The incident involved a stunt car that crashed into a cargo crate during filming in San Pedro with two people were taken to medical facilities on Thursday.

Now comes word that it wasn’t stunt people, as is too often the case in tragic set accidents, rather it was the series’ executive producers and showrunners Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier.

Deadline reports that while Margolis was quickly released, Sonnier’s injury was so severe he had to have one of his legs amputated just below the knee. He remains hospitalized, surrounded by family.

The pair and other producers were reportedly watching a scene on monitors when a stunt car reportedly crashed into a cargo crate, with the container and/or car smashing into where they were.

Questions are now being asked as to why the monitors were set up in such close proximity to the stunt scene. Cal/OSHA has opened an investigation.

The thirteen-episode series follows Syd Burnett (Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Syd is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret.

The series also stars Ernie Hudson as Joseph Burnett, Zack Gilford as Ben Walker, Sophie Reynolds as Izzy McKenna, Duane Martin as Ben Baines, and Ryan McPartlin as Patrick McKenna. The pilot episode boasted a budget of around $12 million, one of the most expensive pilots to be produced in the past year.
