Following rave reviews from Telluride over the weekend, the trailer has now been released for Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut “Lady Bird”.

Saoirse Ronan plays Christine McPherson, a high-school senior from Sacramento who is ambitious, bright, and precocious with dreams of breaking free of suburbia and a life of east coast skyscrapers, Ivy League universities, and cosmopolitan culture.

With modest grades and no alumni connections, she joins the drama club leads and meets new friends, first loves, and gets a social life that is in full swing – all the while aware of the roughness of life for those around her.

Tracy Letts, Laurie Metcalf, Timothee Chalamet and Lucas Hedges co-star in the film which opens November 10th.

“Lady Bird” Breaks Rotten Tomatoes Record

Marking a welcome change from all the negative headlines surrounding review aggregation sites, it has been confirmed today that Greta Gerwig’s new indie drama “Lady Bird” has now become the all-time, best-reviewed movie on Rotten Tomatoes.

Going by the Tomato-meter, the film is up to 164 reviews and has maintained its perfect 100% Tomatometer score. That beats the previous record holder, “Toy Story 2,” which had 163 reviews.

While the Tomato-meter is great at measuring likability, the site’s ‘average rating’ is more telling of quality. The good news on that front is the film has also scored an ‘average rating’ of 8.9/10 – easily one of the absolute highest of the year. However, on that front, it is behind “Call Me By Your Name” which stands at an ‘average rating’ of 9.2/10. ‘Call’ has one of the highest scores in cinema history, but holds only a 98% T-meter score after 120 reviews.

“Call Me By Your Name” and “Lady Bird” have had the biggest and second biggest respective per screen averages of the year in their opening weekends. Both are now playing.
