One of my favourite ITC shows. Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope were such a great double act who rose above the traditional crime gene format that the show was anchored to and it was just magical.
The funniest episode was 'A Disturbing Case' co - written by Mike Pratt.
Other goodies;
Murder ain't what it used to be
Man From Nowhere
When The Spirit Moves You
The Remake
Remade in the noughties with comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. This is quite watchable with some clever stories and of course with Tom Baker as presumably an assistant of God!
It treated the original series with respect and included some in-jokes referencing the original.
One change made was to make Mortimer's Randall a bit soft rather than a grizzled tough guy and Reeves' Marty less excitable and more cowardly and selfish , but it just about worked.
A+ for the original and B- for the remake.

A Disturbing Case was an episode written by Mike Pratt ( Randall) himself. Easily the best episode, here with the funny fight scene that is terrific.
