The CW Planning A “Roswell” Reboot Carina MacKenzie (“The Originals”) is set to pen the script for a reboot of the iconic 1990s teen TV series “Roswell” for The CW. The new series will return to the Melinda Metz book “Roswell High” for its source material and then chuck in an immigration twist with the main character the daughter of undocumented immigrants. In the series she discovers her teenage crush, who is now a police officer, is an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins. A violent attack and a long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, and the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance. MacKenzie, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will executive produce. Jason Behr, Katherine Heigl and Brendan Fehr co-starred in the original.
