Ovredal Replaces Del Toro On “Scary Stories” Andre Ovredal (“The Autopsy of Jane Doe,” “Trollhunters”) is set to direct “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” for CBS Films. Based on the trilogy of books by Alvin Schwartz, the story follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman (“The Lego Movie”) penned the most recent draft. Ovredal takes over from Guillermo del Toro who was originally planning to direct and will now instead produce with Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Elizabeth Grave. Filming will begin next summer.
