CBS Planning A “Stripes” TV Series

CBS is set to develop a single camera comedy TV series based on the classic 1981 Bill Murray and Harold Ramis comedy feature “Stripes” which Sony Pictures TV and CBS Television Studios are developing.

The story of the new take will center on a rebellious outsider who finds his calling when he joins the U.S. Military. Ivan Reitman, who directed the 1981 film, is reportedly attached to both direct and executive produce.

Trevor Moore, Sam Brown, Zach Cregger, Julius Goldy Sharpe, Tom Pollock, Amie Karp and Peter Fried will all executive produce.

Warren Oates, P. J. Soles, Sean Young, John Candy, John Larroquette, John Diehl, Conrad Dunn and Judge Reinhold also starred in the original which grossed over $85 million during its run.

It has already been pointed out on forums about this that STRIPES was kind of remade as a tv show in 2014, with a show called ENLISTED. It failed and was cancelled....

Premiering January 10th at 9:30pm- Enlisted is a comedy about 3 brothers in a unit of the Army called Rear Detachment. Rear Detachment stays back to help the families of deployed soliders and maintain the base.
Starring Geoff Stults (The Finder) Parker Young (Suburgatory) Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars, Private Practice) and Keith David (Platoon)

Unless it features Bill Murray and the rest of the original cast.

And as many of the original cast are now dead...
