Review The Associates

On the face of it a rather repetitive track, but as we complete each ' loop' the background vocal screams and other stuff gets weirder . From 3.30 mins the track takes off into Associates brilliance.

After two small label releases, the third album, Sulk, gave them some hits. Sadly the writing duo of McKenzie and Alan Rankine split up. Here is a non album track released between albums 3 and 4. One of the last to feature Rankine. The girl in this is Martha Ladly, who many reviews mistakenly said was THE Martha from Martha and the Muffins, no that was Martha Johnson, but Ladly was in the Muffins for a short time.

The next album was Perhaps, the first without Rankine, a sweeping majestic affair that yielded three hits. This wasn't one of them but I like it.

Morrissey once mentioned Billy McKenzie in a song with the line " Billy, it was really nothing"
Billy responded with the track; Stephen You're Really Something.
