What do you think of this idea, a new remake of Scarface? Yes, there was one from 1932, and 1983 (the most famous version, I think). Who should be cast as the lead? The setting is changed from Miami (at least in the 1983 version) to Los Angeles, and Scarface himself is to be of Mexican rather than Cuban origins.

No. Two movies are good enough and we don't need another remake of the same exact one.

I'm not usually a fan of remakes. It seems to be a sign Hollywood has run out of interesting ideas. I think it's fine if certain stories are highly similar to others, though, but not directly related to the original so as to avoid being a remake.

It's looking a bit different already though, with the different city and ethnic background. If anything, the title Scarface seems to be a marketing tool for them.

Thank you.

I've learned not to get excited when they're just writing a film (Gambit). That, and this pretty unnecessary. But if they change it up enough I suppose it might work.

It'll never work...

Donald Trump wants to build a wall to keep him out. ;)

The Tripods

Steven Spielberg was going to make a movie version of this, but chose to do War of the Worlds instead. Since then it has been languishing in a dark corner of Development Hell....

Based on a trilogy of books and a new take after the tv show of the mid eighties that only managed to adapt two of the books before getting cancelled...

I totally agree, but somebody has obviously checked the logbook of big earning films of the past and clearly thought it might be worth trying. :emoji_alien:
