Review The Ghosts Of Motley Hall s01e03-Box Of Tricks

The ghosts find several cardboard boxes in the main hall, left by a gang of thieves. The boxes contain tv sets , which leads to much puzzlement as they've never seen television before. A policeman, unbeknown to himself psychic, finds the sets and can see Sir George, and puts two and two together and makes five.

Guest - James Berwick.

A pleasant enough episode.

And yet another bizarre double-crossover (in this Colin Baker era prequel), as Kara's assistant from REVELATION OF THE DALEKS and Des KINVIG himself, defy space and time to team up to steal televisions, like one would.

The regular cast are settled into their roles now. The team is a likeable one.

I did not recognise the actor playing the policeman.

The episode itself is a mild romp of musical televisions.

The only other points I can make is that I thought Tony Haygarth overplayed his character a little, coming across as if he is in a stage play or pantomime a little. And I wondered why the policeman could not see the other ghosts too?

I am liking this series more than I thought I would and the episodes continue to be distinct from one another.

I did like the television yoga moment about "how long since you breathed" and the ghost's response.

James Berwick was the policeman, usually appears as US gangsters in various 70's productions. In fact appears as such a character in Thriller episode " Where The Action Is"
Best episode so far, best bit was when they accidentally switched from Horse racing to cookery.
" we don't want to know about angel cake Madam bring back the horses" or words to that effect. 8/10
