Short filmmaker Lee Cronin (“Ghost Train”) makes his feature debut on this Sundance premiering Irish horror tale about a woman (Seana Kerslake) building a new life on the fringes of a backwoods rural town with her young son. A terrifying encounter with a mysterious neighbour shatters her security, and disturbing changes in her little boy are seemingly connected to an ominous sinkhole buried deep in the forest around their home. Depending upon reviews, it’ll either be a sleeper hit or vanish into VOD oblivion.

Set to premiere at Sundance this year is “Ghost Train” director Lee Cronin’s new Irish horror film “The Hole in the Ground” which has already been snapped up by A24 for theatrical release on March 1st.

After a trip to the woods near their new home, a young mother loses track of her young son. Even though she’s soon able to find him, a large, ominous sinkhole in the wilderness leaves her unnerved.

Things get terrifying as she begins to feel like something supernatural followed her back, to the point she begins questioning if her son was really the one who came back with her. Seena Kerslake, James Cosmo, Kati Outinen and James Quinn Markey co-star.
