Eastwood’s “The Mule” Set For December
A few months after production began, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced an official December 14th release date for Clint Eastwood’s crime drama “The Mule” at Warner Bros. Pictures and Imperative Entertainment.
The date puts the film, that has yet to be screened anywhere, in contention for this year’s awards run. Eastwood has a habit of churning out last minute awards releases, and both “Gran Torino” and Best Picture winner “Million Dollar Baby” rode both to great success.
Eastwood stars in the film as Earl Stone, an eighty-something man who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel.
He does so well his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler (Michael Pena) while a hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper) is hot on his tale. Nick Schenk (“Gran Torino”) and Dave Holstein (“Weeds”) penned the script.
