I've just ordered the series on DVD, look forward to getting it soon. Don't know a lot about it.
Any good episodes I should watch first?
I stumbled on this in an unusual way. Heard of it of course but never tried it. However in my cd collection for twenty years has been the Cabaret Voltaire album Plasticity with the track Soulenoid. This track features a Sci Fi scene with a dance/techno track on top of it. It seemed a really interesting Sci Fi scenario.
Aliens conquer the Earth one thousand years in the future, but the 70 billion population is missing. The human race has been converted into digital information on a gold-copper wire and entrusted to Mr Trent. The aliens travel back in time to get Trent
" we want the 70billion future Earthmen Mr Trent and you know where they are"
All this I gathered from just the track. So recently did some research and found it's from an Outer Limits episode " Demon with a Glass Hand" with Robert Culp. So I bought the series!
Here's a clip from the episode.
SPOILER ALERT - I haven't seen it yet but I know this scene from the track. An important scene methinks.

And here's the Cabaret Voltaire track.

Cabaret Voltaire do a lot of pretty weird stuff.

They knew how to make good annuals back then.

Having said that I only just found out that the above two ever existed.

Influence on Star Trek

A few of the monsters reappeared in Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek series later in the 1960s.

  • The "ion storm" seen in "The Mutant" (a projector beam shining through a container containing glitter in liquid suspension) became the transporter effect in Star Trek.
  • The Megasoid, from "The Duplicate Man" and the Empyrean from "Second Chance" (1964) were seen briefly near Captain Christopher Pike in other cages in the Star Trek pilot "The Cage".
