Disney now has its hands on Fox’s key franchises including “X-Men,” “Alien,” “Predator,” “Avatar,” “Die Hard,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Kingsman” and “Fantastic Four” (which is listed in the press release). Disney now also controls the full rights to all “Star Wars” films with the previously Fox-owned 1977 original likely to go back to Disney’s Lucasfilm – meaning theatrical re-releases and a potential home video version of the original theatrical cut.

“The Predator” Gets Some Brief Reshoots

Shane Black’s highly anticipated franchise reinvigorator “The Predator” is reportedly heading back for over two weeks worth of reshoots according to the Director’s Guild Of Canada.

We do know the film finds a group of soldiers taking on the title hunters in suburbia, and Jake Busey will be playing the son of villainous government agent Peter Keyes (Gary Busey) from the second film. The new movie is said to have more of a comedic tone than past entries, but AVP Galaxy reports that the tonal change has apparently been met with a mixed reception during recent test screenings.

The extra filming will run from March 12th to March 29th in Vancouver. Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Edward James Olmos, Sterling K. Brown, Yvonne Strahovski, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Jacob Tremblay and Olivia Munn co-star. The film opens August 3rd.

Reshoots are reportedly underway on Shane Black’s “The Predator” according to the film’s co-writer Fred Dekker in a new social media posting.

Fox recently delayed the release of the movie by a few weeks, moving the August release to September which was believed to be in part to accommodate these reshoots. In his posting on Facebook, Dekker says:

“Hello, all. Currently in Vancouver shooting some touch-ups for our little movie. I can’t tell you what’s beyond this fence… except to say the body count is alarming. The hunt begins September 14, 2018.”

He also added that “yes, a teaser trailer will be coming soon.” Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski star in the film which serves as both a sequel and minor reboot of the franchise.

Shane Black Teases “Predator” With Photo

It looks like we may finally be getting our first look at Shane Black’s “The Predator” shortly.

Black tweeted a teaser image late yesterday, a shot of jungle with the phrase “Shhh…He’s coming” attached. Fans have already begun scouring the image to see if the cloaked lethal alien hunter from the films that began with the 1987 Schwarzenegger original, can be spotted.

It potentially suggests the film’s first trailer is imminent. The movie is slated to open September 14th so a trailer launch in the next week or two would fit – last year’s “IT,” which dominated cinemas last September, unveiled its first trailer at the end of March so timing wise this would track.

The film has been undergoing some brief reshoots in Vancouver over the past two weeks, Black’s photo obviously taken during those, and some of the cast has posted videos from the set (though didn’t reveal anything). Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Edward James Olmos, Sterling K. Brown, Yvonne Strahovski, Keegan-Michael Key, Jake Busey, Alfie Allen, Jacob Tremblay and Olivia Munn star.

“The Predator” Trailer Coming Mid-April

Filmmaker Shane Black has confirmed the first trailer for “The Predator,” his sequel/refresh of the classic sci-fi/action franchise, is set to be released imminently.

Following a photo he posted the other day from the set of the reshoots which wrapped last week, Black has since responded to a question on his Twitter profile and confirmed that the movie’s trailer will hit mid-April.

The new film is said to be funnier than previous entries, with the main group of humans being a bunch of hospitalized war veterans. The recent two weeks of reshoots are apparently set to add some more serious material back in for tonal reasons.

“The Predator” opens in cinemas on September 14th.

“Predator” Reshoots Reshape Its Third Act

20th Century Fox and director Shane Black have just wrapped additional photography on “The Predator,” the upcoming sequel that also serves as a mini-reboot of the franchise.

Originally slated to open in February, the film was pushed back to September in order to carry out several weeks of reshoots which have just been done. Speaking with Cinema Blend, co-star Keegan-Michael Key revealed the extent of those reshoots – much of the film’s third act. Key says:

We just finished [reshoots] last week, and just about three-quarters of the third act was rewritten. And Shane Black is… he’s just a consummate professional, and a consummate writer. He’s a wordsmith! It was a really, really exhilarating experience, and I think that he’s still one of our most vibrant writers of cinema.”

Previous reports suggested the reshoots were about the film’s tone which skewed funnier than the earlier films. The same reports suggested the reshoots will be to cut back on the levity and add some darkness back into the story.

Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay and Edward James Olmos co-star in the film which opens September 14th.

“Predator” Gets New Synopsis

shane-blacks-predator-gets-a-motion-poster-696x464.jpg

20th Century Fox showed off the first footage from Shane Black’s “The Predator” at CinemaCon this morning, and at the same time released the first plot synopsis.

Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn, Thomas Jane, Edward James-Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen, and Yvonne Strahovski star in the film in which the lethal hunters.....

are stronger, smarter and deadlier than before having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.

When a young boy (Jacob Tremblay) accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race. Several reactions from people present indicate the footage went over very well with Olivia Munn making a big impression as a gun-toting scientist.

At one point Brown’s character asks: “You’re pretty handy with a gun, where’d you learn?” to which Munn responds: “America.” There’s also ” Weyland-Yutani-like corporate-science shenanigans” says one, along with multiple scenes of soldiers battling numerous predators.

So why the singular title? Black says that will be referenced and explained in the film.

The Predator
Director Shane Black’s “The Predator” has scored an R rating from the MPAA. The upcoming sci-fi action thriller has scored its rating for “strong bloody violence, language throughout, and crude sexual references.”

Black made it clear last year of his intent to shoot for an R-rating with an amusing “PG-13 is for pussies” tweet. “The Predator” opens in cinemas September 14th.
