Not sure if this is technically horror as there's a lot of dumb humour in it but it did scare the absolute crap out of me when I was young. Tarman was especially horrific (the way he wobbled about). The two sequels don't hold up that well but this one is a genuine classic. I highly recommend it.

Brains... brains.

I remember the zombie effects in this being almost groundbreakingly frightening in this one back in the day. their desire to eat brains didn't help matters either! Yes, the sequels weren't as effective, I agree.

Zombie effects were pretty amazing for the time. The half skeletal woman they tie up was terrifying.

I also don't remember zombies ever talking until this film.

None of these were made by Romero of course, but the influence is obvious, so the Romero board seems a kinda fitting home for them?
