“Twilight Zone” Revival Gets A Host & Teaser

CBS All Access has officially announced Academy-Award winning writer Jordan Peele will serve as the host of the third revival of the classic anthology series “The Twilight Zone”. In addition, an announcement trailer for the series has been released.

Legendary writer/producer Rod Sterling hosted the original 1959-1964 version, and Forest Whitaker hosted the short-lived 2002 version. Peele has long been attached as executive producer but had initially resisted hosting, concerned his face being more familiar as a comedy star would take away from the show’s tone. Ultimately he’s decided to join and in a statement via THR, Peele says:

“Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours. I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of ‘The Twilight Zone.'”

Peele, Simon Kinberg, Marco Ramirez, Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon will serve as executive producers for the series and collaborate on the premiere episode. Production begins on the series later this year.

“Twilight Zone” Revival Begins Production

CBS All Access has officially announced that filming has begun in Vancouver on its revival of Rod Serling’s iconic sci-fi anthology series “The Twilight Zone”.

“Get Out” filmmaker Jordan Peele serves as both executive producer and host of the new series which will be available exclusively sometime next year on the CBS All Access streaming service. “Dark Phoenix” helmer Simon Kinberg also serves as executive producer.

This marks the third version of “The Twilight Zone” following the 1960s and 1980s versions. Forest Whitaker hosted the latter which ran only a single season.

Adam Scott Cast In Key “Twilight Zone” Role

When it comes to the classic anthology series”The Twilight Zone,” arguably its most iconic story was the ‘monster on the wing in mid-flight’ episode “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” based on Richard Matheson’s short story.

William Shatner starred in the original as an airline passenger who is the only person to notice a hideous creature lurking outside the plane on the wing, one whom hides every time someone else tries to take a look.

His claims are complicated by the fact he’s just got out of a sanitarium after suffering a nervous breakdown on a flight six months prior. The story scored a new adaptation in the 1980s movie with John Lithgow in the lead role.

Now “Parks and Recreation” and “Big Little Lies” star Adam Scott has scored the part in the episode “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet” which will serve as part of the upcoming new take on “The Twilight Zone” being produced and hosted by Jordan Peele for CBS All Access.

Scott marks the second casting hire for the series, with “Alien vs. Predator” actress Sanaa Lathan to lead an episode titled ‘Rewind’. The series is aiming to debut in 2019.

William Shatner on Muppets Tonight

Miss Piggy is reading the book "Man o' War" on a plane. She notices a creature on the wing of the plane, a reference to "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", an episode of "The Twilight Zone". She tells the man sitting next to her about the creature, and this man happens to be William Shatner. From the end of episode 309 of "Muppets Tonight".
