And Jonathan Pryce just totally fails to convince me as a Bond villain.

Wasn't Jonathan Pryce the villain in Tomorrow Never Dies? This one had Robert Carlyle and Sophie Marceau as the bad guys. Judi Dench seems to have made a few enemies in her time as M, having been targeted twice now in two different continuities.
