This episode was not as good as the first one, but was still fun. The context of why Mildred has a different type of cat than the other students makes much more sense in this version, where she was accepted into the school at the last minute, versus the book's lame "we didn't buy enough cats for some reason" explanation.
Miss Hardbroom is such a racist character, wanting Mildred to get kicked out of the school simply because she's not desended from a magical family.
As for Ethel, I hope she really is sympathetic like the show is trying to imply, and that she wasn't just lying about her Noble intentions in this episode.
