Tim Pigott-Smith OBE died on 7 April 2017, aged 70.

Born on 13 May 1946, he was an English film and television actor, who also performed on stage and radio. Throughout his long career, he appeared in many film productions, including CLASH OF THE TITANS (1981), GANGS OF NEW YORK (2002), JOHNNY ENGLISH (2003), ALEXANDER (2004), V FOR VENDETTA (2005), QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008) and RED 2 (2013). Meanwhile, on television, he appeared in THE INSPECTOR LYNLEY MYSTERIES, MIDSOMER MURDERS, SPOOKS, FOYLE'S WAR and SILENT WITNESS, amongst many others. He also appeared twice in DOCTOR WHO, in the serials THE CLAWS OF AXOS in 1971 and THE MASQUE OF MANDRAGORA in 1976.

As an author, he wrote three books. He wrote two children's books in the series THE BAKER STREET MYSTERIES, featuring the exploits of Sherlock Holmes' Baker Street Irregulars - THE DRAGON TATTOO in 2008 and SHADOW OF EVIL in 2009. He also wrote OUT OF INDIA.
