    “The bitch is dead now.”

I've just finished re-reading CASINO ROYALE by Ian Fleming.

I'm now ready to move on to LIVE AND LET DIE again.

I like CASINO ROYALE, but it isn't my favourite Ian Fleming novel. I think that honour goes to either FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE or OHMSS.

Does anyone else on this message board actually read any of the 007 novels?

I know that most/all of you haven't heard of these books or this author, but I'm almost done reading a book by Nalini Singh called Wild Embrace (cheesy, I know. Don't knock it, though). The series that the four stories in this book are attached is actually pretty well thought out.

I've also started a new series by another author that involves solving paranormal crimes... The books are pretty damned funny.

The series by Nalini is considered Paranormal Romance, & I think that the other series (by Lisa Shearin... sorry, forgot to add her name earlier) is Praranormal Mystery.

While paranormal affairs are not necessarily my main interest when reading, I am certainly not against the idea of delving into the genre for a look. However, it is something I would probably have to be in the mood for first...

True enough... I tend to gravitate towards books that no one thinks to pick up. :D

One of the finest pleasures in life is discovering an unappreciated masterpiece on a dusty shelf in the back of a second-hand bookshop on a side street somewhere...

Or is that just me?

That's not just you. Reading is my longest pleasure in life.

I've read "March Violets: Bernie Gunther Thriller" of Philip Kerr in 2016 and plan to read the 2nd book of that serie in 2017. But I need to buy it first..

In the 1970s, when I was a small child, my parents moved to an isolated township for work. It was almost impossible to receive a TV signal there, so I turned to books for entertainment. I quickly fell in love with them and have never looked back since. We were there for approximately a year.

These days, I love watching films, TV shows, listening to music, playing video games and spending time on the internet...

But there is still a special place set aside in my heart for reading. And I prefer proper books. The ones that you don't need batteries to read.

Ah. I may be younger than you but, I started reading at the same time I started watching TV
My first book is a thin poem book that I was awarded after my first school semester. I'm hooked ever since.

I also prefer paper books. The feeling of holding it in my hand and caress its pages is priceless. The 1st page of the story almost feels sacred. But nowadays, I read more books on kindle, for practical reason. There is no more place in my small room for paper books, I have a big bookcase brimmed with books already and I want to add more and more. Secondly, whenever I go out, it's easier to bring my kindle to read on the train/subway than bringing a thick tome of, saying, this:

I live in alone in a house with a lounge room, sun room, 4 bed rooms and so on and so forth. So space is not an issue. The trouble is, it still fills up so quickly - often with junk.

And the one thing you never mentioned about paper books is the smell. Being able to bury your nose in a book and inhaling deeply...

    Ah... ;)

    I prefer actual books too.

If I need to flip back a few pages (because I might want to re-read a part that I didn't quite understand), it's easier to do that with an actual book. With an iPad, I lose my place a lot when this happens.

Also, there might be something about the light coming from the screen, because I can easily read an entire novel in one night, but reading a few chapters off an iPad makes me sleepy.

Reading on iPad, or any kind of computer/tablet screen is the worst. No, I was talking about kindles and e-ink, which don't cause as much eyesore, of which the screen doesn't shine, and which can be read under sunlight without reflecting.

Of course actual books are the best.

Which book are you reading filmfan?

I prefer actual books as well. Always have, always will. Loved them ever since I taught myself to read at three years old.

Well, I've now completed CASINO ROYALE and LIVE AND LET DIE once again. Now comes MOONRAKER...

The prequel to Gossip Girl called It Had To Be You. It's before the main books actually happen and all of the key characters are younger.

:) ~ I recently made a purchase this week of a new book by Keke Palmer - I Don't Belong To You: Quite the Noise and Find Your Voice. I just started reading it today.
