13 Reasons Why
Just started watching 13 Reasons and am loving it. But since the rest of the household appears to hate it, it looks like I'll be binging by myself after they're in bed or when no one else is around.

It's timely, a topic has needed some serious attention for quite some time and is also extremely well-acted, written and filmed. Thanks TSIM, it's great to know I'll have someone to talk to about it when I finish!

I binge watched 13 Reasons Why yesterday. Its not a happy show, but its good.
If you like this, there was a show on SkyTV in Canada called Cracked about a PD unit called Psych Crimes that dealt specifically with the mentally ill and the problems law enforcement has in dealing with them. It only had 2 seasons but the shows were smart, funny, intelligently dealt with and incredibly well-done.

The cop who headed up the unit was played by David Sutcliff whose character suffered from PTSD and had been taken off his SWAT team as a direct result of the incident that caused it. He worked with a different psychiatrist each season and the rest of the team was made up of a male psych nurse and a female detective.

It's a part of the population that is rarely dealt with effectively or in a manner appropriate to the problem itself and this show worked really hard to demonstrate what that was like and to do it honestly and realistically. I, personally, loved it and still go back to rewatch it from time to time because it was that well done and very much worth watching.

But I can't wait to pick your brain on what you thought about 13 Reasons as it seems to be causing quite the controversy and I'm interested in your take on it all. It also looks like it's been renewed for another season although I can't tell you much more than that because I don't want to "spoil" it for myself. I will say that I've had some pretty personal experiences with some of the specifics of the story I've seen so far and take issue with some of the problems people are having with it.

At last!!!! A show I can have some interesting conversations on in real time! It should be fun to pick each other's brain about it yes?

I have read some reaction from people who apparently have the emotional range of a doorknob.
Anyway, when you are finished, maybe you can make a thread about it where we can discuss it :)

Done and can't wait!..... Also, have you seen or heard of Cracked? I can see why Doorknobs would have a problem with it!
Which is one of the reasons I'm so strongly opposed to doorknobs.... they rarely turn when you need them to and lock-up on
you for reasons completely beyond understanding!

I'm watching Independence Day re-run on Syfy. It's one of my fav films, I watch it whenever it's on. It has so many great scenes, but the ones I like best is when Will Smith punches the alien & says "Welcome to Earth".
The firestorms have to be some of the best special effects ever. I like it when Boomer the dog makes it safely into the utility closet with his people. Love the alien ship that WS gets to pilot.
How awesome would it be to really fly in a ship like that to the heavens.
And, of course the scene where Randy Quaid says "I'm back".
I just love the whole movie, I enjoy every minute of it...

BBC to close TV download store after only 18 months as streaming dominates

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business...download-store-18-months-streaming-dominates/

The BBC is poised to shutter its download store only a year and a half after it was opened, after it failed to hit commercial targets under pressure from US streaming rivals.

Sources said the BBC Store, which allows viewers to buy digital copies of new and classic programmes such as Doctor Who, is being prepared for closure due to the rapid rise of subscription streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which also offer BBC programming.

A BBC source said: “The download market isn’t what it once was.”

The BBC Store, operation by the commercial arm BBC Worldwide, struggled to make a dent in the download-to-own market despite promotion via the corporation’s popular free catch-up service iPlayer.

Plans to abandon the venture come as BBC management, led by director-general Lord Tony Hall, seek cost savings across the broadcaster. Its finances are being squeezed by a deal with the Government to shift the £600m annual bill for free TV licences for pensioners from the Treasury to the BBC.

The planned closure of the BBC Store is likely to disappoint some TV fans. It made swathes of the BBC’s archives available to buy for the first time, including Dennis Potter teleplays and landmark interviews by Sir David Frost.

The BBC is developing alternative plans to commercialise its archive, however. Lord Hall has been closely involved with the development of BritBox, a subscription streaming joint venture with ITV that was launched in the United States in March. It is part of a broader push by the BBC to increase its commercial income.

The US launch was seen as a prelude to a potential UK launch, but according to industry sources the plans are on hold following the resignation of ITV chief executive Adam Crozier.

The BBC declined to comment.

It's hbo,but i never seen it,it's any good?
Showtime actually.
I have been a fan since it first aired in 1990. Its one of my favourite shows and unlike The X Files(another one of my favourites), its return has been awesome so far.
Its not for everyone, not everyone likes David Lynch's work.
