I wonder about this a lot.

Ripley said "And you, you little ****head.... you're staying here?"

    But with whom?

    Who looked after him?

    Who fed him?

And what was his fate when Ripley never came home?

We should have been told in my opinion.

    Don't you agree?

Don't worry, cats usually land on their feet - both literally and metaphorically.

And Jones looked like he knew how to look after himself.

Actually, she had him with her after she came back from The Nostromo voyage and was working the loading docks. She told him she was leaving him behind for JC's "Aliens" trip. So given that she (Hicks, Newt & Bishop's head) didn't make it back at all... I just assumed he died in her apt. back on Earth. Unless she had a neighbor take him while she was gone.

Of course, there are a whole group of HP fans who still believe that Hedwig survived the killing curse that was meant for Harry... so what the "bleep" do I know?! ; - )

I am also disgusted that Jonesy never had a single spin off novel, or Dark Horse comic book series or... well, anything!

I think that future historians of film will look back one day and realise just how hard done by cats were in the movies of our time.

Its a little known fact that Jonesy was actually the mastermind behind the whole thing. He secretly brought back an egg to earth and not long after Ripley and the others left, the earth was overrun with xenomorphs.

Jonesy Resurrection would have been awesome.

A pity they followed the wrong survivor with these films.... :emoji_disappointed:

Don't forget Pyewacket Doc! She was the cat who belonged to Kim Novak in the movie where she lost her powers falling in love with Jimmy Stewart! That was one smart "Kitty"... if she was one at all!

And what sort of weapon did he use?

    Cat-o'-nine-tails?

Considering how much time has passed, his descendants have probably evolved into a semi-intelligent species...

We had "Newt's Tale" as a graphic novel, telling everything from her viewpoint....

    Why not "Jonesy's Tail"

Our hero has been very hard done by, comic book wise....

There was Alien: The Illustrated Story, that came out when the first film did.

Here is a rare glimpse of our furry friend, in graphic novel form!

Note the somewhat disdainful look directed at Sigourney Weaver. I suspect that this was a clash of acting egos that also took place on the actual film set.

You're assuming that Jones was just a normal cat...

How do we know he wasn't a robot like Ash or Bishop?

How long do robot cats live for? Is it the same as robot dogs?

    Someone needs to ask K9.

Jeez! I never considered the robot cat angle!

That could explain why the alien never attacked Jonesy in the cat-box.

What beautiful irony too. Ripley goes back to save a representative of Weyland Yutani.

Perhaps Jonesy has been put on board as a mobile camera. Watching and filming everything with his robotic eyes!

    Very possibly.

All I know is that after he was left behind on Earth by Ripley in ALIENS in 1986, Jones suddenly realized he had to fend for himself. That's why he eventually got into acting. Now, you may think that there aren't many opportunities for robot cats in the field of acting, but you'd be wrong. I can see the expression of doubt on your face, but it's true. If you pay close attention, you can see an early acting job Jones managed to secure with the BBC, in the DOCTOR WHO serial SURVIVAL in 1989.

Now I realize this was the final serial before the original DOCTOR WHO TV series was cancelled, but I'm sure that one has no relation to the other...

There's actually a bit of a tragic story attached to that.

Jonesy thought his big comeback break was in Batman Returns, but he was devastated to find that he had to share the screen with many other, frankly less talented cats....

It really affected his ego, having to be herded onset with a load of other idiotic extras when he had once shone as a furry star in the acting pantheons of Hollywood.

It was around about this time that he started to choose even stupider roles.

See if you can spot Jonesy from the 90 second mark on.....
